What have you done to your P5 today?

Did you do some fender rollin there in the back ? Also, what did those bad boys run ya ? They look sweet man.

nope, no fender rollin, I missed the dyofr party thrown by the nepoc guys:)
Actually all I needed were some good ol' fashion 5mm spacers, new Tokico shocks/struts (mazdaspeed) and a lil camber in the rear end, and she is perfect, even with full load, no rubbing at all. (work courtesy of chilledboost)

btw: I picked these up off of the rx8club.com website for about $500. Good price for 18' wheels imo. and thanx for the compliments

Greyman...Waiting forthat howto....are p5's prewired, or do you need everything?

That was the good thing about my dakota. It had all of the wiring for pwr windows/locks/mirrors already in there. everything was plug-and-play!

Sorry, I've been busy working on my car.

Everything you need comes in a kit with a manual, our cars are not prewired. The manual is pretty good and it has pictures, its really easy to install too. I will get pics up soon, I promise!

So change of plans, ended up changing the oil tonight in the dark. OMG the oil filter is in possibly the most annoying place ever. Both mine and my friend who was helping me arm's were too long to actually get any type of leverage on it. Ended up his girlfriend got it off for us cause she could fit her whole forearm up above the crossmember and actually have room to turn it. Finally got her put back together, Mobil 1 with OEM filter from the dealer.

Thanks again. :) No fender rolling as of yet, but I did get a minor rub on the rear/drivers side yesterday . I had the back loaded with heavy luggage and 3 adults on board; I hit a big "whoop" on the freeway at about 75 mph and got some decent spring compression. Upon close inspection, the tire does not look like it touched the rear lip so I'm at a loss. This happend to me one once before with my MSP wheels mounted up, when I had the wagon loaded up like the Grapes of Wrath coming back from Costco. I'll have to look a little closer. As far as where I sourced my wheels/tires, I got them from Edge Racing http://www.edgeracing.com/ . Following the PIAA link will give you an idea what I paid. I wanted to give a local shop the business, but the couldn't come close to a price match ... I highly recommend them.

Do ya ? I don't know, I think it almost makes any car look tougher ? I don't know that tougher is the right word. Maybe more aggressive is better. Don't get me wrong, I don't want a wheel with a 5" lip on my car. These PIAA's are about 2 3/8". The ones that Bala has are about 1 1/4". I think they look pretty nice.

Just got thinking about it a bit. You will probably have to give me some wheel fitment education. Why wouldn't they fit the P5 ? They come in a 48mm offset on a 7.5" wide wheel. They have the deep lip on there but, isn't the distance from the face of the wheel to the backside of the hub where the offset is calculated going to be the same on any wheel that is 7.5" wide with a 48mm offset ? The deep lip portion doesn't make the wheel any wider. Would it be more that the spoke or center section of the wheels have to come back more aggressively towards the centerline of the wheel to show the lip and make brake caliper clearance an issue ? PIAA's website shows them in their application guide with a fitment for the Protege. Although they do throw in the * agressive fitment may require fender lip modification * note.

^^ wow the mods it would take to fit such a huge lip on a Protege :P

That pic of the wheel most likely would not be the same for the P5 because of our offset, the lip will be way smaller.

Yeah it would look stupid if done properly (big lip in the rear, small lip in the front).. big lip in the front, small in the rear (logical for FWD) would just always, always look stupid.

PIAA lists the lip as 60mm on the wheel for the protege in their application guide.
