What have you done to your P5 today?

Um here's the pic of the spark plugs I removed. Can you tell they only have 5k miles on them at the most? http://picasaweb.google.com/clauretano/MyCar/photo#4966630664845066258

The two that are really red are the ones that were dripping, soaking wet when I removed them from the car.
i would go and get the codes pulled from the ecu. the cel will only flash when the cats reach 5k degrees, risking MAJOR damage to your engine and cats. and im not liking what i see from the pic of the pugs. if you had a cylinder miss firing then i can under stand a fouled out plug, but all four are fouled out. you may have some other issues with the engine.

^^ are the codes stored though? My cel is no longer on.

oh and.. why does everyone else tell me that the CEL flashes on misfire?

The CEL was steady when I was at light throttle or idling, and only flashed if I pushed the pedal a little too far and it kicked into a crazy misfiring mode.

I might take the car in to have some things checked on it soon though. I'm probably at 72k right now and I have the original brake/clutch and power steering fluids. I also wanted to just get a general checkup, like a compression check, some sort of inspection, etc. I was hoping I could wait until my new cams are in so that I could do the cams and timing belt then too but I dunno.

*sigh* anyone want to buy a car on my behalf???

everything that needs to be confirmed/taken into consideration for customs, registration, etc, has been taken care of but due to the nature of the seller's job, he will not sell to a non-us citizen. this is my only obstacle to getting the car.

so yeah, any takers? :)
vicki?

myzmzm-are you located near new england? I know you are in Canada, just can't remember how close you are. What kind of car are we talking about anyway?

chris, the cel are stored until they are cleared...

Drove to work, parked and as I was walking away another gentleman pulled into the lot and stopped his car. Got out and ran over to me asking all kinds of questions. Saying he had seen it and was looking at getting one (driving an early 90's Sentra).

At first he referred to it as a '3' hatch....gasp. I proceeded to correct him and told him what years they were made and that the '3' replaced the Proto. He wanted to check the engine and seemed impressed. Was happy with the DOHC 2.0....for some reason he thought it might of had a rotary?!?

Finished up by telling him how great the car is and how much fun it is to drive.

All of this and not one mention of 'cute'!!! (alright)

most ppl think that it flashes on misfires bc that is what usually cases the cats to get that hot. liek stated before, the codes will be stored until it reaches a certain amount of drive cycles, depending upon the level of the code, or until its cleared with a scanner. so they should still be there in the ecu under stored codes. and there will be a freeze frame when the code was thrown. tellin you engine load, rpm, throttle position, ect. all that is useful info when diagnosing this stuff

and my shifter and bushings just got here. so it guess its back to work after this beer and install it;) orderin the red lug nuts and carbon fiber grill tomorrow. i cant wait for a used one. my front end looks so akward with that stock grill:(

Took the car into Mazda today to get an estimate and take pics for the Mazda Rep. Hopefully find out from Mazda next week whether they will fix the rust and paint bubbling.
