What have you done to your MSP today?

Parts have been arriving this week- Engine Harness, Oil lines, oil fittings, rod, bearings... Might buy an AWR pan tonight... Then reassemble it in a three-step, three-day plan- Day 1, remove engine, prep for disassembly; Day 2, disassemble and reassemble; Day 3, reinstall and road test. I've been in a mood to work lately, so I need to take advantage of it. I knocked out my RX8s engine R&R in 6 1/2 hours. Almost pulled the MSP into the shop to remove the engine after that, but decided to have a beer or two instead. I am going to keep off the left handed switchbacks at 6k+RPM I think. I like driving the MSP, so I need to chill a bit to keep it alive. lol

Either an upgraded MC or a proportional valve setup so you dont lock up the rears before the fronts. There was a member who track raced his mp3 with regular protege brakes and just used way better pads and did excellent. I believe princess peach has his car now though.

He has MSP brakes and race pads like me. Unless you are going iinsane speeds like 150+ you'll be fine on the stock rotor size. Just get better pads and a higher boiling point brake fluid.

I couldn't agree more; stainless lines, dot 4 fluid and good pads will do wonders. But everyone wants huge brakes

It's for the eyes. Wouldn't we all like to look through our wheels of our cars and see huge brakes that could stop a freight train within a 1/4 mile? Sure, but the real kits are astronomically high, the ms6 upgrade doesn't fit the 'visual' bill all that well, and, hey, let's face it, the OE brakes are good for what you're going to throw at it. If you do a lot of aggressive braking, then the aforementioned lines, dot4+, and pads will suffice.

anyways, I cut some more lateral link bushings last night and basically finished wrapping all the engine bay wires with "techflex". Now I have to wire in the ssafc. cut lexan windows. fab up my aluminum dash. pick up a cf hood. either get a cheapy exhaust manifold or weld up my own. fab up my own 3" exhaust system. finish relocating my battery. I don't remember the rest of the list.

ive spent $2400 on car parts the past 2 weeks...

It's ******* insane is what it is. But i love them. Lol

yep, completely understand. im still on the fence about selling or keeping my MSP. but whenever I see a part I want/wanted I cant resist and start budgeting to get it lol

Well, had my first MAJOR failure in the MSP today. Was accelerating hard into traffic this morning and *POP* no more drive followed by a nice grinding sound every time I gave it any sort of load. Was able to nurse it down the road a bit until it just completely gave out. Tranny stayed in gear after the pop and I could still shift through gears. Clutch pedal felt/feels fine too. My guess is my LSD finally exploded - any other thoughts?

Its at the shop where I was supposed to get new tires put on today, but they have a whole lot of more things to look at. What should I expect them to come back to me with and what am I looking at having to replace? Need best and worst case scenarios...

Most likely you LSD let go. Sucks. I've always seen it posted that you should not try to move after the pop. But I have not experienced this issue thus far and hope not to before I sell the car, so I'm not really certain on the whole don't try to move it aftwerwards issue under power.

Definitely the LSD.

+1 LSD for sure, labor should be anywhere from 6-9 hours depending on the shop. OEM revised LSD is ~$500, it's a good time for a new clutch if it needs one.
