What have you done to your MSP today?

My old msp drove by me yesterday. Breaks my heart a little bit. I wanna meet the dude that destroyed it so I can remind him how big of an idiot he is.

Fixed my heat/ac controls today, long over due. Here's some pics of my new Chargespeed lip destineal asked for.

Well your HKS is working well on my car (scaring pedestrians) so your MSP lives on vicariously through mine, lol.

I was bored waiting for my head to be done at the machine shop (It's ready and I can pick it up in the morning, SO EXCITED) so I removed the VTCS. I just cut the rod down to be flush with the first runner and stuck it back in. I couldn't figure out how to secure it in the hole so I put the actuator back on there. What's the best way to clean the surface of the block without damaging it, and how do I remove the IM gasket without damaging the IM?

Gonna try gasket remover spray for the IM. I also wanted to ask how the hell do you remove the cam gears? It looks like you can't change the cam seals without removing the cam gears and they won't budge. I don't want to put the cam in a vise as I'm afraid to snap it. I tried loosening the cam gear with the timing belt on and it didn't work. What's the secret I know they can be removed.

When the cam was in the head you where supposed to put a wrench on the hex which is in he middle of the cam. Then, a 14mm on the gear bolt. While holding the wrench on the cam break the gear bolt loose. I also marked the timing marks when the belt was on with a paint marker when #1 CYL was at TDC.

in the service manual it's page 01–10B–15

here's the chapter http://www.mazdaspd.com/manual_files/01-10b.pdf

oh and i just used a razor from a box cutter on the IM

the return line is a b**** to bolt to the block, gonna need an extra set of hands

+1 to it being a b**** but not sure how a extra set of hands is going to help in such a tight area.

I was about to say no way in hell I could put the turbo in and then try to attach this big ass downpipe.

It can be done with the turbo still on the car. Is it easy hell no. How my exhaust guy did it no idea but I imaigne a lift helped out a bunch.

I had the other guy pull the turbo Mani away from the head ;) gave me an eextra little bit.

And stealth my boys issue was 1 step colder old plugs, and he had 2 rubber oring things on one spark plug......like between the plug wire and part you grab on with a socket. Idk why. He didn't do it. Previous owner. Running great now though.

My MSP is still in my garage. Got a problem with water backing up either from clogged AC drain line or clogged cowls drains. Some rattling from the suspension too, which I think is from a few bolts on the ladder braces/control arms from the clutch change. I plan on installing the SplitSecond AFC before winter too, which is quickly approaching.

Yea, i still have no idea what the **** those rubber things were...or why they were there

Glad to hear you guys got it figured out! NO idea what those rubber things are and I've personally never heard of anyone doing that.

Thanks, I will reinstall the head and cams and try it again. I hope I can change the seals with the cams in. If not its not a huge deal. I had a fiasco getting the timing set when i did the timing belt so i should have it down now on how to set it right.

well my factory battery terminals are s***, any style suggestions? lol I am just gonna go to the parts house and pick some up.
