What have you done to your MSP today?

well last night I pulled off the front bumper and all the other crap to make room for my custom FMIC kit, and cut the little space out of the crash bar for the fmic to mount to, today I am just test fitting the pipes, custom made some brackets so that I don't need the smic in there but still holds the fans and rad. tightly, andd... going to get the bracket welded onto the fmic, and my bov flange welded on.. hmm what else.. well we will see after that...

quick question, if I don't have the slimfan brackets, should I really just order them or is there a way to mount them that everyone else does, or do people just use zipties for now or something? thanks

You can definitely use zipties at least for the time being until you get the slim brackets. I'm pretty sure some people use them as a permanent mounting solution, as well...

oh, nvm then, but oh well I just used zipties for now just to hold the fan in place for fitment, I actually found the little mounting tabs that come with the fan, it was in the bottom of the box, but either way I ordered the 6" adjustable mounting brackets, so hopefully those should work well..

today I went to the welder and found out that to cut a hole/and weld on the flange for my BOV to the hotpipe of my new FMIC kit, and to weld a small bracket that he will cut, onto the FMIC core sides, will cost me about $80-100, a little more than I thought but I guess if the job gets done well, oh well.. now I just have to wait for the 2 90* and 1 45* couplers to come in that I ordered, and my welding to get done in a few days and then I can figure the rest of the fitting out, the cold side is my only side where I'm a little worried about the fog lights with, but oh well

also has anyone wired the rad./A/C fans so that when the rad. fan goes on, the A/C fan goes on too, I should just have to have a connecting wire going from the + of the rad. fan to the + of the A/C fan right? so they both trigger?, I just figured I never use the A/C so that fan isn't getting any use, and with the smic gone, I mine as well use both fans to cool the rad.

if you did it that way, you'd be crossloading the AC and cooling circuits, so if they both came on you may have issues. to do it you should really run a relay so you only feed forward, and don't end up backfeeding one of the circuits.

ya that is kind of what I was thinking was going to be the right way of doing it, so just run the power line from the rad. fan to a relay's switch and then run a separate power source connecting to the fans power line and run a separate ground for the relay, thanks, just figured since I have everything off and torn apart for now, mine as well get some of my little ideas done while I'm waiting for the other stuff

just got a notification that my DDM Tuning HID kit is finally in the mail, also DG lip will be on my ride next week from a local p5 owner for $80 bucks!!!!!!

dang good deal on the lip. please paint it to match the rest of the car tho!!!

great deal, and also that reminds me that I need to replace my HID fog light soon, the H3c bulbs crapped out on me, I already replaced 1 a little while ago with the H3 from DDM, but now have to replace the other H3c, I have to kinda squeeze the fog housing on there, and use some silicone to seal the edges but the bulbs work and fit, it's just the rear plastic piece that rubs against the housing, but it works, and hopefully these don't die after a year and a half

also for anyone that has replaced front break pads, I did a quick search but didn't find anything very useful and feel no need to start a thread for a quick question, but I need to replace my front left break pad, and I have the drilled and slotted rotors, they have plenty of "meat" to them left and are in great condition, so can I just replace the pads, and I am assuming I have to replace both (I mine as well since I bought both, but just figured I'd ask), but I should be all set right?..

and to keep it on topic, I just ordered my brother's ssafc, hydroshield, and AEM wideband O2 sensor and myself a case of royal purple, and racing yellowstuff break pads, now to finally get his car running correctly (gah)

lots of peeps just leave them black. i dont like that. at least paint the upper half

ya, mine was luckily painted before I bought the car, it's off now after my dad cracked 1 of the sides in half almost after pulling into a parking spot, but it was matched very well, but I assume it was very expensive though..

anyone have any input about my ? for replacing front break pads?

I thought about painting it but since I lowered the car in the front, it would suck driving around here especially trying to pull into inclined parking lot entrances(they are everywhere around here) and I would hate to paint it and mess it up later on so Im thinking about wrapping it in that 3M carbon fiber wrap stuff.
spicy orange is going to be VERY difficult to paint match..

If I wanted to paint match it, I could drive up to JDM sam's shop to do it. It's about 2-3, maybe 4 hours away from me. I sent him an email a while back. It's $250 for the spicy paint. I may eventually get it painted if I can find a reputable paint and body shop around here that will do a decent job on it. Some of the paint shops around here suck. But I know Sam won't mess me over.

There was a thread on here about the DDM Tuning kits and one member said they got theirs in like 7 days. Most of anything that I order or buy from forum members gets here in surprisingly 3-4 days. I ordered my HID kit on the 14th or 16th, I can't remember, but I just got an email this morning that it was finally shipped out.

its cuz the ddm kits have been on back order for awhile cuz ppl keep ordering them.. a few buddies of mine have been waitin awhile too.. when i ordered mine they were in stock n i got emm by the end of the week

^^ also I had emailed them about it and they said they had a shipping crate either confiscated or something like that from customs back in Dec. and they were back ordered for a few months, and they are still trying to catch up..

but nothin on the break pads huh.. oh well maybe I'll just open my own thread for it, among a few other things for my brother's car

sorry, can't help you on the brake pads. I haven't messed with mine enough to give you any info
