What have you done to your MS3 today?

never considered them, hows the sidewall?

Stiff, but the ride quality's not too bad. They aren't great in the wet. Not horrible, but not great. BTW, something else I like about these is they are all made in Japan.

Here's the Tire Rack test of them against some others.

Holy frakamole, I need 2 new tires for my car. Normally TR is the cheapest place I've found these. NTB and it's affiliates (Tire Kingdom, et al) have these on special right now for $111.99 each. Even with their more expensive mounting, etc, that's way better than the $137 + shipping TR wants. I'm ordering now.

Engine bay looks like a hot mess right now. Turbo is chilling on the axle/subframe, intake valve cleaning is underway, injector seals came in yesterday and are ready to be put in, EGR delete is being installed, thermal insulating intake mani gasket, intake mani P&P (thanks Jake [etipp98]), and overall cleaning of throttle body etc. Jake (etipp98) has helped me with most of the stuff so a big thank you to him. I'm excited to get the car back on the road. Next thing on the agenda is the driver's side half shaft. The CV boot is torn and there's greasy goodness spewed onto the suspension bits. Do I have to replace the passenger side shaft if I replace the driver's side?

No, you don't have to replace the passenger side half shaft if you're replacing the driver side. Where are you going to get yours? Mazda ones are expensive but I've read numerous places that aftermarket replacements will not last as long. :(

I'm going to be doing both of mine here very shortly. The driver side sounds particularly horrid. Today when backing out of a parking lot it sounded like something just snapped in half (eek2)

What lip do you have Ivan? I was searching through your build thread and couldn't find the answer.

I have the DG CF splitter. I have also read that the aftermarket axles won't hold up. I don't really know what to do at this point. The price of axles from Mazda is absolutely insane. All of this crap because of a boot. What are my options right now?

I think that I'm going to go with axles from Mazda Motorsports at about $180 a piece. But I'm confused by the parts catalog...

25-400 and 25-400Z are parts I want... The catalog lists 2 part numbers for that:

25-400 GG46-25-500C DRIVE SHAFT RT $360.64
25-400 GG44-25-500R-0D CV AXLE $178.25

If I need both of those that's over $500 in which case I'll just say F-it and go with an aftermarket piece and take my chances. I need to call them and get it figured out unless someone here has the answer?

:D

How long until those need to be replaced too? :(

Edit: It didn't quote your empty post :(

Changed hub rings. Turns out the old ones were not the right ones to begin with! Thought that it would fix a steering wheel shake at 60mph+, but it didn't! Thoughts on steering wheel shake?? Balance on front wheels off?? It also pulls to the right...

If your steering wheel is shaking, its most likely balancing. If its pulling the alignment could be off as well.
