What have you done to your MS3 today?

but thats the thing, HT owners don't want 500HP. the reason i find them appealing is everything you don't like about them. a reasonable safe easy tune, that fixes stock tune inadequacies while making the car more fun to drive w/o the overtune anxiety. frankly your arguments against it are making me want one even more. dont get me wrong, if power is your thing, i get it. i totally understand why people prefer an AP. but for alot of us its just not necessary.

So why is the cobb ots better than the hypertech Ive seen the hypertech make 280 whp with intake and test pipe is cobb that high for ots (seriously dont know)? If you dont know how to tune your self and dont feel like paying someone to tune your car with an intake why not get the hypertech? I paid 300 bucks for mine used and its perfect for my lil DD and Im sure the AP is right for for the big boys who can pay to play.

i made 286 with an intake and tune on the ap

how do you know the ht tune is safe? you dont.

the ap can monitor and datalog for tuning and maintanence purposes, cant do that with the ht.

you can make adjustments to the ots maps for whatever reason, specifically maf calibrations

not all ap users want/need 500whp, but its a plus to know you can

Were you using a custom tune? Or the pre-loaded one

again

ap will be higher, not because one is better than the other......

ap has been out since 2007, ht just came into the market, so statistically ap will have a higher rate than the ht all things being equal

you also cannot blame the ap for user errors, just because some idiot thinks he can tune and blows up, does not make the ap an inferior product

then whats the harm in trusting the pros at hypertech to provide a good tune for us guys that aren't going to be adding bigger turbos, rebuilding engines, etc. i understand the positives of an AP, but i could pay less money for an HT and not have to find a good shop to tune it? sounds like a win win for my situation

You're right, but.. with getting into tuning through ATR.. you open yourself up for a world of hurt if you tune it wrong. I've just seen too many people blow them up on a 'safe tune' using AP. I understand you have to pay to play. For now, I'm OK running a HT. I'm not hating on the AP, I love it's potential. I'm just not ready to take the plunge and spend the money.

The HT is cheaper, that is an advantage assuming that you don't need the extra features of the AP...

i dont intend to build my motor nor add a bt in the near future, but there is no way for HT to have a calibration tailored to your specific modifications, there are many many different combinations of parts that can be thrown onto the car....

the ap gives you or your professional tuner the ability to create a tune designed specifically for your modifications and your car's quirks

I've owned both AP and HT (I have hypertech now), and I honestly am happier with how my car drives/performs moreso than how I was with the AP. The car drove rough in my opinion, and just didn't feel right. Car is smooth as a top, good gas mileage, and pulls hard as hell with the HT. Just patiently awaiting the idle adjustment to be released!

I don't leave my car unattended ;)

I didn't realize my "set it and forget it" phrase about the ht was going to head off in the tangent it did, seeing how its been discussed in sooo many other threads

But really, the ht is just like that. You only pick 0-60 restriction on/off, top speed, and intake type. After that, you litterally don't have to touch it ever again

I don't even want the option to custom tune unless its professionally done. And, of course, the ap does that along with its ots maps

As for more problems because the ap has been around longer, that's a purely relative argument based on circumstantial evidence. I'm here at the chrysler shop because my 1 year old truck has a water leak around the roof line, yet my 3 year old mazdaspeed has no leaking problems

As for zoom zoom booms on either system, I would argu that because you can tweak things with the ap, that probably had a big factor in these failures. I can't tune my car just a litttttttttle bit leaner to get more power from the ht, but I'm sure I could with the ap

But, I'm not gonna sit here and be an ht *****. I will say that if I actually wanted to make substantially bigger numbers from the ms3 (god knows why because you can't tune a fwd to be rwd), I would get the ap and take her to a reputable shop

But then again, id probably just get a whole new car. As pointless as the first and 2nd gears are in this car stock, they are even more pointless when the ht punches it harder and higher. I use the power in 3rd and 4th gears only

^^come for a ride in my car and ill take a pic of the shiteating grin you'll have on your face

and ive tuned out almost all wheelspin in 2nd and 3rd, 1st is a lost cause lol

No doubt. But as much of an enthusiast and knowledgable person about cars as I like to think I am, I know I can't be anywhere near a track star. All I [can] do as a daily commuter is smash the gas every so often

^^do some autox, then when you get comfortable knowing the cars limits, some track days

evolution driving school and skip barber dont hurt either

HA! I just got my new HT tuner update for the Idle adjustment!! woo hoo NO more VIBES with A/C on!! DAMN CPE 60 duro MM
