What have you done to your MS3 today?

took a shot at resurfacing my glazed pads and rotors before replacing anything. going to re-bed the pads and see what happens...

here's before and after sanding the elements:

yeah, the cracks look bad but they seemed to just be on the surface. once i sanded them down i couldn't find much evidence of anything deeper. in the end i'll probably end up with higher performance pads that can handle the extra heat from track use. it seems the rears are really the issue since the rotors are not vented they get no chance to cool under heavy use and can scorch the pads.

since you go on the track and such, I recommend getting some Hawk pads and some nice rotors. Tri-point got me a great deal back in 09 on hawk pads and stoptech rotors. These brakes are awesome!

Over the weekend I polished and waxed the entire thing, Rain-x'ed all the windows, and returned the interior to it's normally immaculate condition.

Now my Miata has been relegated to daily driver duty until it stops raining so I can at least take some pictures of all my work :D

Installed the hypertech and went for a lil drive I am very happy! Its perfect IMO for my DD the power comes on strong slaping you in the face without the stumble/hesitation I would get sometimes and stays strong to redline. Car feels much more responsive and fun to drive!

man you might have sold me. seems like the best option for a reliable DD

^^get the ap, hypertech but better

The only reason I'm hesitant to get an AP other than spending the extra cash right now (because I already have a HT) is tuning. I really wouldn't mind getting a GT2871 and shooting for 325whp or so, but I am ******* terrified about blowing the car up. I still owe $8500 or so on it. I just can't see the point until it's payed off or I have an extra car. Or... two.

^^^gotta pay to play. Go forged and professionally tuned and you will have power. And more importantly...safe power. There are wayyy too many engine parameters and not enough testing equipment or knowledge for someone like me (or most other ppl) to be playing around with tunes on the AP. That's why I chose HT...its the ron popeil of tunes. Set it and forget it

sounds good. i dont need over 350hp in a forged block. i just want a better power curve and more responsiveness the few times i actually hammer it

anyone who tunes and has a "set it and forget it" mindset is very naive imo

you can do the exact same thing with the cobb OTS maps that come preloaded on your ap

you can get custom tuning based on whatever parts you get from either a tuning shop, or make one yourself

i fail to see how the hypertech is superior in any way

how long has the hypertech been out

how long has the ap been out

statistics.....

how many idiots thought they were awesome tuners and ****** their own s*** up?

how many ht owners are flirting with 500whp on the stock motor?
