What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

JDM- My MS6 is Black Mica and im in the owings mills/ reisterstown area about 15 mins. from westminster. When did you get an MS6? i remember seeing you in one of the maryland threads posting pics of the P5.

My Magnaflow mufflers are banging into something underneath the car (either spare tire well, or the pinch weld above the muffler outlet), and its driving me crazy. I've adjusted things twice now, and am still having issues. If I can't get it figured out today, the stock exhaust is going back on the car.

those should help...i have the same problem with my magnaflow exhaust when i hit bumps...the stock rubber hangers suck... and alot of the knock i get comes from the passanger side right where the y pipe goes into the muffler..it seems to hit there...anyways look into these before you go back to stock

Installed my new-to-me TMIC today! Weirdness, I got P2088 and another random CEL today. reconnected everything, cleared them and reset the ecu.
everything worked out. :)

Funny you mention that, I was just reading a DIY for installing the Magnaflow, the one thing people said was to either get Kartboy or Corksport exhaust hangers to prevent banging and hitting the bumper, etc.

Wire tucks look so clean, will check out the build thread.

I'm just staring at the tires in my garage itching to put them on... Was going to do it until it randomly snowed like 2 feet :|

Thanks for the link! I remember reading about the hangers, but wasn't sure who sold them. Do the Corksport hangers come in a set of four?

glad i'm missing it... i'm out in saskatchewan for the week... very cold but hasnt been snowing... but i hear they got some more random snow back home.. hopefully it helps the existing snow melt quicker though cause once i get home the first car show of the season is only a week away!

I drove up to Vermont this morning to pick up Julie's new shoes from a fellow forum member:

Rota P1s in hyper black with some useable Potenza rubber. I should be able to get through the summer with them. I was gonna wait to put them on when I finally install my H&Rs, but I'm not sure if I can wait... :p

RPMs. Or, spend the coin and get the AutoExe ones. I ran H&R springs and was plowing in the winter.

I had the money and should of got AUTOEXE H&Rs are too low especially with the front Lip from Autoexe/next mod..

Im gonna end up buying those probably later this year from Corksport. But Im gonna get wheels first im thinking 19x8 with 225/40 that will increase my OD and raise my car about .3-.4 inches which would help alot because im barely scrapping in the front

Fiddled with the exhaust again, and I think I've got the clearances all worked out. I made sure to hit all of the bumps I could find in the road today, and I heard no banging around. I'll still order the Corksport hangers because the stock hangers look pretty stressed right now.

Additionally, I got a set of 235/40 Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 (that's a mouthfull) installed on my RX-8 wheels yesterday. From my initial impressions just driving around, I already like them more than the Kumho SPTs that they replaced. I would have gone with the 245/40 tires, but they were 30 dollars more per tire. Ridiculous.

Anyone know what year filter you need for the oil filter conversion on the 6i? I did it awhile back ago on the gf's 6 but dont recall which filter I used.

It's the pinch weld. I took some channel locks and bent up a nice smooth semi-circle around the top of the muffler tips in the Pinch weld. No more crazy vibration & knocking noise. Also, i will be buying the corksport exhaust hangers to keep that thing from swinging so much, its scary how bad they stock ones are.

So this Saturday i did the Spin-on Oil Conversion, wanted to make changing easier on me, and allows for a bit more oil in the engine. Its a FREAKIN PITA for the MS6!!! i did it on a MZ3 once, and it was CAKE. But for the MS6 the oil cooler being bolted directly to the oil filter housing is the problem. We still got it done, after LOTS of struggling, and to top things off i found out my power steering fluid leak is coming from the feed hose connection directly out of the reservoir. So either the hose is split @ that spot, or the clamp is no longer water tight. Either way ill have to unattach the Power Steering pump JUST to get to the damn reservoir hose to replace.

for now im using that thick STOPLEAK stuff so its a slower leak until the new house comes in. (thick fluid = mucky steering feel, lol) other than that, BLACKMAMBAMS.COM (one of our newest AV members) hooked me up with both the Spin-on Conversion kit & Royal Purple Oil which my car REALLY seems to like!!

You're exactly right. I just couldn't bring myself to cut or bend the pinch weld, so I just pulled down on the muffler outlets while tightening the clamps which provided the clearance I needed. I cut the Magnaflow tips off before I installed the exhaust, so there isn't any chance of the tips damaging the trim pieces.
