What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

lol. Thanks man. Looks like you are on the right track!

ps- Get some of the carbon fiber mirror over lays for those mirrors. ;) Should bring out that black/white look you are going for.

lol. Great minds think alike! I have them ready to install, but they are the ones with the LED lights.

Speed LED Mirror Covers.webp

I want to pre-wire everything and then put them in soon. Dont want to install them if they are not wired/hooked up. I found a DIY for wiring them up, just have to make time to get it done.

Im running out of ideas for exterior mods!!

Any other ideas or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the inspiration, Qwik. You, Gary, and Steve (among several others) have set the bar fairly high. Hopefully you'll stop in every now and then.

Thanks man. That means a lot. I'll still pop in time to time.

You got me! see, I didn't even know they made the carbon fiber ones with turn signals!!

Your exterior is lookin pretty good. Only thing I would do now is a drop perhaps? but I am sure you already have the springs!

No.... Dont have springs..... YET!!! lol

I want to drop it, but with the lip kit, im concerned about destroying it. Whats a good choice to get a get rid of fender gap, but not have to freak out or worry about tearing my lip off whenever I see a dip in the road coming up?!?!....

If i could find the damn lip braces i have for mine, id suggest getting at least 2 of them, cant seem to find them

but at highway speeds that nextmod lip, will start to sway up and down a little in the middle and may crack, which is why i installed the braces.. when i find them ill PM you. i gotta look at my receipts to see where i got em.

Edit: I totally f*cking found them..thanks to my own build thread no less haha

Sell lip and buy springs. :D How bad are your roads? That lip cant be any lower than the one on my vette. I rarely scrape it but you have to be cautious at all times.

So...I was out lastnight, saw a Silver MS6 in (South East aka the bad side) Downtown DC, close to the Dunkin Donuts & Radio Shack...corksport decals on the side glass. Don't know if you're on here, but you are a n00b for leaving your hood popped.
It was latched but not shut. If I didn't think an alarm was going to go off and w/all the police around, I would've properly shut your hood for you.

But I want the lip AND the springs!!! lol

The roads themselves arent too bad as far as potholes etc, but there are a lot of inclined driveways and entrances/exits of shopping centers/casinos/fast food joints/gas stations etc.

Thats what Im worried about the most.

Thanks for the link Boosted.

But heres my thought: I know what this is supposed to do regarding the highway speeds. BUT after thinking about it, if say youre driving around town and drive over a dip or maybe an inclined driveway/ramp etc, if you DIDNT have these the front of the lip would flex 1/4-1/2 from the ground pushing up on it for a split second as you "bottom out" and then return to normal. (obviously if it was a huge or heavily inclined dip or road it may break or crack)

BUT with this installed, they would keep the lip from flexing and you end up with stress cracks or worse on the lip AND from the drilled mounting holes on the bumper with these. Does that sound right? Or maybe I just dont know how they work, since ive never seen them in person.

I mean these work and keep the spoiler from catching downforce and ripping it off at highway speeds, but wouldnt it do the same in reverse when it is pushed from from the opposite way (the ground pushing it up as you go into/out of a dip)

At that point possibly cracking the lip and causing stress/damage to the mounting holes/area that these are drilled into the bumper. So, now NOT ONLY do you have a possibly cracked/damaged lip, your bumper has stress cracking in the paint or worse?

With the design of these you dont have to worry about it because down force (basically air) pushing down on it too much. But with a dip or incline you have to worry about the Hard Unforgiving and Unflexible ground/concrete pushing up on it until something gives.

Hopefully my thought process is wrong somehow and by the design of it, it somehow address that issue does the hinge somehow still allow the flex or movement to avoid what Im talking out or ..... IDK?...

Those are all good valid points, so far i haven't had any issues and I've scraped countless times with the lip, i will say that i put another layer of fiberglass and gel coat on the lip to make it stronger. I've been running the lip bracing ever since jimmy said his tore in half on the highway doing like 80ish. They are loose enough to move slightly and give if you bottom out a little. PM your email and ill get a few pics for you on Tuesday to show you a close up look at how i have them setup, its suppose to rain hard tomorrow so the car isn't leaving the stable.

Here is how i fitted my lip, this allows for some flexing and no wobble at highway speeds.

I have since rubbed a curb and put a snice crack in my lip :( should be fixed by summer though.

These are bolts and some copper tubing painted flat black.
It is still unpainted in the first 2 pictures.

So you dont have any type of bars/struts like boosted? Just reinforcement with more fiberglass and gel coat?

Check your PMs I sent you email addy.

So do you think the crack is related to the way you have it mounted with the bolts and tubing? Or is the crack unrelated?

That idea could work if I could simply secure the underside/bottom of the lip, but still allow the lip to move or flex upwards from "bottoming out" Is that how yours is Mike? Can the lip still flex upwards as nothing is bolted/screwed down on top of the lip? Or does your setup prevent any flexing upwards?

I would have left, $ back refund and found the nearest covered area.

Pics or it didn't happen BTW.
Just got back from movie...Went outside as soon as I heard it and it was pea size, only lasted for about 5 min. Went ahead and checked the car, she looked fine. Sounded much worse inside though! It pretty much melted as soon as it hit the ground, so couldnt get pics!!

I would think that Zinger's crack in his lip happened because those bolts allowed for no flex at all, where as the struts i have allow for the lip to flex up if you bottom out.. Zoom im running the struts on the lip right now, along with the added fiberglass and gel coat for extra strength. I would say i added around 1/8 of thickness to the lip by doing that.

That was always one of my fears while out to dinner, movie, driving out of state, race track or at a show with dark sky's coming towards us.. Hail. yikes!

Finally finished installing my AFR and Volt gauge, the Voltage gauge installed to the passenger side and the AFR to the dual pod
Ordered the pioneer double din DVd and hopefully i can install it sometime in match.... :)

BoostdSpd6- Yeah in Kansas, the weather is crazy. Two inches of snow on Friday, Freezing drizzle on Sat with dense fog, today dense fog with thunderstorms, then freezing mix tomorrow, and 58 and sunny on Tuesday. Hard to gauge what the weather is going to be like.

Block...did you 1 off a double-din kit or did you buy one?
Interested in a double-din set up....
