What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Cracked Windshield

While driving to work yesterday I heard a loud crack and shortly after I noticed a crack line on my windshield! I thought it must have been defective glass or something as there were no cars around when it happened and I did not go over any bumps.

The dealer looked at it and quickly pointed out the chip mark on the windshield, as well as a chip mark on the underside of the wiper metal arm! I was told the rock struck the windshield at its weakest point (just below the wiper); normally the rock would just fly off or just cause a minor chip but in my case it was the perfect angle and location to cause the glass to fracture.

C$500 to get it replaced :(

On the bright side I will buy a lotto ticket to test my luck!

Every windshield I've had replaced in the last 10 years has cost $350+ dollars, so that may not be his deductible but the cost of the part in Canada. In Florida, a windshield replacement is free (no deductible), but it still goes as a claim on insurance.

Its going thru an insurance claim, which I have C$500 deductible for comprehensive. The repair shop told me the glass costs about C$650 excluding labour.

Lucky you!

Yah my Corolla was $650 but just $200 windshield deductible. How much do you save going with $500 deductible?

replaced the passenger side low beam again.

i knew it was going to go, just not this soon.

the one i put in last time was a pre-used bulb from my p5 when i switched to HIDs.

well, lasted a few months.

H&R springs, Mazdaspeed camber links, KYB rear shocks, and alignment. all yesterday. sorry not today.

Received my rotors slotted and drilled, Nitto Neogen tires and now they are mounting them on my 350Z wheels, Friday i receive my C/O and saturday everything's going on the 5. :D

How you like the KYB shocks, speed5? I need cheap shocks, I have a choice of getting Monroe shocks for about $330 locally.

I bought a Dodge Journey antenna today, looks great and doesn't conflict with the garage door opener anymore.

vacuumed and cleaned the interior today. also put the summer floor mats in. it snowed today, but i dont plan on going anywhere.

the outside is still dirty... i know. it wont stop raining here though.

sans baby seat and mats, i forgot to clean the mats before i put them away. must have been busy.

easy... i dont sleep.

drove to DC from Boston and back

pics coming. first few days with springs and new rear KYB GR-2s, ride was noticeably firmer. you feel everything on bumpy roads, but on smooth highway, nicely firm but not harsh. I hear the KYBs feel like stock but I've only had them with the H&R springs.

drove from Boston to DC and back. got 29 mpg.
here it was parked in DC Chinatown.

Changed the oil and filter at 15315 miles today. The bottom cover came off easier than I thought it would, just a couple of minutes to take off and put back one. I used two pieces of 2x6 in front of the ramps and the lower fascia cleared the ramps Ok. While I was under there looking around, I noticed on the aluminum pan, the letters FoMoCo and on the lower part of the block also. Didn't think I'd ever own a domestic again.(headshake It's probably a good engine, but if I had known that before I traded, I wouldn't have even looked at it and the wife would have had the Kia Soul that she went to look at.

You may have forgotten that Ford owned a good percentage of Mazda for several years. Just like Kia and Hyundai are pretty much the same company.
