What Guages to get?

there's no use really in getting an a/f gauge unless it's a wideband. only thing it's good for is showing you when you're in open loop and for those nighttime in-car raves (flash)

Are there any risks of putting an EGT in? Has anyone ever heard of the fitting wearing out? I'm sure for the EGT drilling into the manifold is necessary. I would like to do it too, but not sure on if I would be able to do it myself.

I am buying a boost, A/F, and Fuel Pressure for my Mazdaspeed.

The Autometer A/F is pretty much not good for anything, but I am getting the Defi D-Gauge A/F that has actual numbers on it and is said to be pretty darn accurate. I will eventually get a wideband for tuning with a management system, but the A/F gauge is a much cheaper alternative in the mean time. Greddy makes a good functional A/F gauge as well, but it's not in Imperial units.

Is a wideband air fuel ratio gauge only available via an external electronic device.... like an Apexi AFC thing...?

I've seen the usual LED and analog gauge types but, I've always been told they're useless because they're too slow and/or inaccurate. I still don't know how people know that the MSP is running rich.

What does EGT stand for? I give permission to laugh at me as much as you all want to, because everyone else seems to know what it is and I am just dumb.

Well I heard egt's and a/f gauges are expensive so now those are out for the time being until I get rich or a better job

I have an autometer a/f guage in my mustang and the only thing it does for me is annoy the piss out of me. The only use you have for an in-car a/f guage is to keep from leaning out.(When tuning, you're normally on the dyno) In our cars, which happens to be rev happy, it would lean out too quick for you to read it on the a/f guage. I would say the only reason to have a fuel pressure guage is if you have a fp regulator. I'm only putting a boost guage in mine.

A/F Meters are the same cost as oil pressure and all those gauges. THe autometer one is like 50 bucks online. But the EGT now that one costs a lot. Lowest price I saw for the autometer was like 140.

if you get an a/f gauge then you should get a third O2 sensor to read independently the other two are always in flux trying to let the engine know :wtf: is going on. an independent one would give you the best reading...

Disclaimer: This is MY OWN OPINION and as such is fallable and subject to complete and utter failure. Get the gauges you think will look kick ass in your car with your setup.

what are your tuning/power goals? I'm running pretty much stock @8.5-9psi boost and may only get intake and exhaust work done to hold me over for a year or two. If thats all your planning on, overboosting is the only thing you should be worried about. Just get a boost guage

i thought you shouldnt run a fuel pressure gauge to the inside of the car. considered unsafe....fuel inside the car....no?
