Vibrant Exhaust ?'s

Oh yeah, I destroyed the stock hangers when I took them off (I got sick of tugging, so I cut them off), so that's not an option. I'll just put up with it.
If you have a chance, can you take a pic with the silencer and maybe aclip of the sound with the silencer on.
Congrats and thank you.
To remove stock hangers use pliers and squeeze them out. Works like a champ.Anyway, great exhaust.

post #58 of this thread has my video in it, its a comparisson of different notes from the Vibrant, inside/out, start up/revs. etc. keep in mind that a lot of it was done in a parking garage so it is amplified a little. from inside the car with the silencer it really is just a hair louder than stock. its on rapidshare, let me kow if you dont know how to use rapidshare.

Man, after my drive in to work this morning, which is about 30 minutes, my ears are hurting. I think I'm going to line my trunk with Dynamat, maybe that will keep the sound down in my car, not to mention make my stereo sound better.

Oh yeah, a side affect of the exhaust, my boost holds at 7psi now. It used to peak at 7psi, then settle down to 6psi. Yay steady boost.

HAHA...that's funny. Are you sure you have the exhaust sealed at the J&S pipes? Maybe it's louder up there? I don't think it's that loud, but then again I like loud.

That might have something to do with it. I only got one nut installed on the J/S pipe because I don't have a grinder to get rid of the collars on the other nuts. My co-worker has one, and he's going to let me borrow it or go over to his house and use it. I ordered the dynamat any ways, $74 shipped for the trunk kit. If sealing the J/S completely does the trick, I'll just return the dynamat trunk kit.

Cool...sounds like a plan. Let us know if that was the issue.

Would installing the nuts upside down work? I'm guessing it wouldn't, since the width of the pipe is the reason why they don't fit. I curse Vibrant for not including all the plug and play hardware.

Nope...you'll still run into the problem, just a few threads further.

I'll try cutting the collars off with my dremel tonight, instead of grinding them down. Hopefully it won't be freezing as s*** tonight so I can get all this done without getting frostbite. Hopefully my neighbors won't get pissed at me for making so much noise, but screw them any ways with their kids running around all day and night making all kinds of racket. I'll keep you guys posted. Maybe I'll throw the MBC in tonight as well and get this puppy up to 9psi.

Forgot to tell you guys, I also broke some of my tools getting the stock system off. Since I couldn't find my breaker bar, I put my 1/4" socket driver into my jack handle, and used that to get the J-pipe bolts off and the axle-back bolts off. (hah) I snapped one of my extensions on the axle-back, and then I broke the 1/4" socket driver (silly) . Thank god for Craftsman, I'll be getting new ones the next time I swing by a mall.

Is it that loud even with the silencer?
If it really loud then you might have a leak.

Just ordered mine from Sam at Crossover. Keeping my fingers crossed. :D

I promise you will like it. Sam is a good guy so don't worry about that either.

It's not that loud, it's just the frequency that it resonates at. The low frequency, bass-like, my ears just seem to be sensitive to it.

So I bought my Dynamat from Etronics, got here in 1 day, and I only paid for ground shipping. Gotta love that service. Also got the hardware kit from Vibrant yesterday too. They sent me all three gaskets and the bolts, when all I needed was the middle gasket, oh well, now I have extras. I'll be installing the other two j-pipe nuts, the middle gasket, and the dynamat this weekend. Hopefully it will be above 30 degrees so I don't freeze to death.

Might want to get a little space heater :)

Did you grind the nuts down on the sides?

I used my Dremel and cut the flange off of the nuts. I bet my neighbors loved that, but it only took me 20 minutes and 1 heavy duty cutting disc. I didn't get it cut flush, but it's close enough (or I hope it's close enough). I then painted the nuts to prevent rusting. Hate it when my nuts get rusty, chafes big time.

Space heater = money taken away from modding the car. Plus I have no way to run it since I don't have a garage and the electrical socket on my balcony doesn't work. God I hate living in an apartment.

LOL...nice nasty image there.
