V6 for p5?!?!?!?

The milleniaS motor isnt 2.5KLZE it is 2.3L KJ(i think thats the code) motor, u might be better of just using the DE or the ZE. its doable but it will be very hard to source out one for parts etc.

Yeah I realized that after I posted it then stopped caring haha. My buddy has a milennia S with some bolt-ons. It sucks that you can't do anything to the motor in terms of modifcations. Dyno'd 230 though. Which is cool I guess for the eleventy billion dollars that motor costs.

Actually I bet they have. The 97s use distributors while everything after uses coil packs.

None of the 2.5's use coilpacks. The onlyone that does is the 2.3 Miller Cycle motor, and it has one for each cylinder. Ive never seen a coilpack on any of the K8 - KL series motors.

The harness's on the OBDII have more for the Extra sensor (EGR - Powersteering peressure sensor etc) The A/T and M/T Harness's are al ittle differnt tho, but its no biggie. Its just for the Speedo -Torque Converter-P R N D 1 2 shifter.

KL-ZE is out from the Probe! (direct)
The more it goes, the easier it look! It will be harder to put the FS in the Probe than the V6 in the pro...
Homework for this week:
- Compare driveshafts
- Study wiring diagrams
- Buy gaskets

gaskets are ordered! :p
as for the driveshafts, they look identical, same lenght, same spline count, but the V6 ones don't fit in the spindle! Gonna have to make some hybrid Protege/V6...

Wow I saw this thread come up a couple times, and i was like who was the crazy asking about the v6? So i was like there might be somthing here, so i started reading then DOMSPUN showed up. This is really great guys I love to see these types of threads were everyone is helping out, and calculating for him. Cant wait to see this thing done man. Keep up the great work.

Why not just swap the SPindles form the probe over? Front and back and than u can have 5 lug's..? See if a MX3 Axle will work in the 3rd gen spindle, Those fit the tranny aswell. Not sure if they will fit to the spindle of the 3rd gen tho. Worth a try..

I thought about it, but I didn't know if the driveshaft were the same lenght, now I know, but I still have to swap the half-shaft holder. Gonna check if the spindles fit...

Just be carefull with these, I've found that the hub can actually end up being frozen to the axle. I had to get replacement axles off a 626 for my old MX-6 when the CV boots tore as I was not able to remove thehubs even after cutting the nuts off and using a 2 ton press on them. That was worded poorly(smash) . Not a big problem when you can just pull the whole assembly off another car but a real pain in the nuts.

good luck, thata alot of axle pulling, for soem reason mazdas and driveshafts are horrible to pull in and out. EIther it goes in, and wont come out, or it wont come out at all.

Good news, the stock Protege driveshafts fit! One thing less to worry!
For the one who's gonna try to make a street car with everything functionnal with this drivetrain, he better be a wiring genius!

thats good news, naw, not a wiring genuis, just have access to one.. lol.. and all the wiring skematics at ur disposal... hit me up if you need any.

I'm just taking the WHOLE wiring harnesses AND accessories(cluster, flashers, fuse boxes) from the Probe and put it in the car! :p Simple is better...

Oh well, the project will be on hold for a while. :(
Just got into an accident while GOING to do my swap!!
Gonna put pack the ZE in the Probe and use the Probe until I can fix the Pro...

Sad day, very sad day!
