what can i keep stock...i just want to make it louder with more bass, i dont want to spend more than 200 dollars so could i just get like 2 12s that arent amazing with the stock amp, or get a new amp, or what.

I have seen some Rockfords on special 2 for 1. 12s for about $79. then get an amp. Factory systems suck a$$. I have never heard a good sounding factory system. That is the first thing I change.

do you have a MP3.. or MSP.. is there a stock sub there already? there are alot of post about upgradign using the stock amp and stuff. you can not get much for 200. and the amp can only output like 150Wrms I think. if I remember right. adn to do that you have to flip it rightside up to keep cool. 150Wrms dont give you many options. just get like a JLw3v2 8". that is about all you can do.

what stock amp? I assume you have an MSP. The stock amp will only drop 125W RMS and that's at 4 ohms. Don't expect to run a 12" that's decent with that. However, I recommend the eD Kx12 and then pick up the Hifonics Warrior Merlin from sounddomain.com. That's a little more than 200$, but the Kx can be run off the stock amp initially until you get the extra 50$ or so. Of course, you'll need to build a box, but that's really simple.

The reason I suggest going this route is because after you have the amp, the Kx will handle it just fine, and then you want to upgrade you'll have a good powerful amp in your hands already. You'll have 300W @ 2 ohms (it'll even run at 450W @ 1 ohm stable), which will let you run a bunch of higher end speakers, but mainly if you find that the 125W from the stock amp isn't enough you'll have more than double the power to work with.

But if you decide that's the sub you want, order pretty quick...eD has been having supplier issues. I don't think that the Kx has a flat cone, so you should be able to get it without any problems. other than that, they're a great company. here's their site: edesignaudio.com. hope that helps!

--EDIT--
It does have a flat cone, but they should have it in stock for a little while longer. head over there and check them out.

spend more money! not worth upgradign if you are not going to get something decent. there are subs out there that will perform very nice. but it is just going to cost more than 200. if you want to stay really cheap you will have to go the route that servo suggested. search for some stuff.. there is tons on the stock setup. and what people ahve done.

at my local show they are having a deal on two sony twelves and an amp, i forgot the wattage tho for 200...not a bad deal with a box. but then id haveto pay for the installation cuz i dont wanan **** stuff up.

DON'T BUY SONY CAR AUDIO!!!! EVER!!!

I can't stress that enough...it'll sound louder than the kenwood, but it's gonna sound like ass. And your stock amp will never run 2 12s.

it comes with an amp...what can be so bad about sony car audio, im not saying i dont trust u, im just saying i cant spend too much.

quit being cheap. it is not going to be an improvement that is worth it. just save your money and get something nicer. you can get a k series eD that is very nice. just get an avionxx amp or a RF even. it would work good. the sub is only like 145 or 135. get an amp for like 200 or less. that would be what you want to do. you can forget about the 200 bones. that wont get s***. I am not trying to be a dick.. just trying to keep you from wasting 200 dollars on somethign that will not make you happy. then you wil buy what you want later.. and have wasted the first 200.. .IMO

*edit* if you dont have any money then keep it stock.

word....so if i spent like 500, do u think id be happy. i could get dual jls a good amp nice box and have some left over i think.

I think.. you could do it cheaper.. but I think that everytime I do something half ass then I always want the nicer stuff. then I try to sell the old stuff.. lose my ass then finally get what I wanted in the first place.. which cost alot more since I lost my ass on the bad stuff...

check out the eD website... I will give you soem links

either the 10 or the 12 in this series.. the k series not the kx (unless you want it to be cheaper)

now amp

this is an idea.. maybe a better one out there.

you could get the dual 4ohm voice coils and then hook each coil to a channel on the amp.. you will have 400Wrms total to the sub.. that woudl not be a bad setup.

it woudl be 135 + 285. that woudl be what 420. god I hate math

if you get enough power for 500$ for the JLs you'll be good...but you can get the eD 8a with that Hifonics amp from sounddomain for a little over 300$. It sounds like a quality 12" and fits in a .25cf box. Or you could get the eD 10 or 12 K for a couple dollars less if you really want a larger sub, but the 8a is very impressive. Either way, it's right around 300$, plus box and wiring for the amp. Assume 400-450$ installed. If you do the install yourself we're talking 350$ and this sytem would blow your mind, seriously. you could even build the ported box for the eD 8a and it'd be about the size of a box for 2 10's, but it'll sound better than the 2 sonys.

And regarding Sony car audio...they're not that much of a step above Pyramid audio. Really cheap-o stuff...I mean, think about it. 200$ for 2 subs and an amp...even if that's split 3 ways that's 66$ for each piece. it's one of those cases where you get what you pay for. Their HUs are overpriced and have bad SQ...their other stuff is just wicked low quality and you can do better for the price. That's why I say to avoid them. Hope that explains it...I didn't mean to sound like a dick! :)

like I said about eD, though...you have to order quick, because they're going to be going through some big changes soon due to a bad supplier. Adire Audio and Resonant Engineering also make reallly good stuff for a decent price, but eD is pretty much the best bang for the buck that I've seen.

heres an idea, if you don't want to spend a ton of money, why are you even bothering with 2 subs? why spend money on 2 junk subs when you can spend the same amount and get one quality sub. it will sound better, and if it's good it will proalby be just as loud. don't cheap out in the audio department or you won't be happy, and youlle end up going back out and spending more money anyway. get one single quality sub and one good clean amp.

I take it that you've made your purchase already by the info in your sig?
