2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
Hello Everyone,
This is my first post, I have 2003.5 mazdapspeed with the current mods SMIC, K&N drop in and vibrant TB Exhaust: I just bought the unichip and from what I read I should be fine with the factory maps? If I were to add a Cai, 626 manifold, and some hard pipes is it completly necessary to get the unichip retuned? I know I will probably pick up more power if I do - but in terms of safety of the engine could I still run the factory settings on the unichip with these new mods?

Thanks

ok #1 theres a sticky at the top of this section that says Sticky: ALL Unichip Questions/Problems!. thats where you should post this sorry if you think im comming of as a dick but we have 10000 unichip threads.

#2 welcome to the community =D

#3 depending on where you live it will be hard ot get the unichip tuned seeing as not alot of ppl do it. you should be fine with the stock maps but like you said if you want to gain the most power out of it id go and get it retuned. right now im running a custom fmic, custom sri, aprxr1 j pipe back, pnp thunder manifold, and ss afc without any problems and im on the stock super map. i will be installing my new cam and pnp 626 intake mani when i put on my new head but i still dont forsee and problems.

hope this answered you question

thanks for the reply , my bad for not posting it under the unichip stickynot sure if I can move it there now. You say you are running the SS afc on the stock super map with you mods, so this will be the same as running the hiboost setting on the unichip? you are running 10psi?

woah woah woah. With your mods NOW, yes you will be fine with the stock maps. you'll be able to get more power with it tuned, but honestly it's probably not worth the money.

If you install that manifold the unichip will be ****** and will not know what to do. You must get it re-tuned with a 626 mani. It will be totally fine, actually better, with a cai and hardpipes though. enjoy it, the install is a breeze and the car runs sooo much better.
