TurboXS Downpipe + Midpipe (Installed)

I have not dyno'd. All I can say is that I have a good stopwatch and know how to use it. The car is a full second faster from 60-100 than before installing the TurboXS DP/RP.

I can't say how much peak hp gain there is without dynoing. I did not do a "before" dyno run. It may be that we get only 20 or even only 10 "peak" hp. But that's not where the whole story is. It is where in the power band the gains start, how high the gains get and for how long through that band the gains remain present.

The elimination of the stock restriction in the factory DP and eliminating the restriction in the two cats seems to be broading, fattening up the curve both for HP and torque. This is just subjective opinion on my part. What is not subjective is the full second quicker times from 60-100 under the same temperature conditions. And this is very repeatable.

hi, on the TurboXS website it says you should get a gasket to go between the manifold and the DP, is there a stock gasket that can be used? or do they give you a new gasket? not sure why they wouldn't. How long/hard was the install? thanks

There's quite a bit in other threads about install. It does involve removing a cross member above the second cat and also is a real b**** to get to and remove the nuts on the turbo studs for the DP. It's a piece of cake but for those difficult to reach and hard to remove nuts connecting the turbo outlet to the DP. As far as the gasket from turbo outlet to DP, its silicone and reusable. I don't think you can even buy one if you wanted.

You get all the other gaskets, flanges and stuff for the DP/RP install. You do not use the stock hangers and there is no need.

For more details, step by step instructions and photos, do a search.

I just installed my TurboXS stealthback exhaust, catless of course. After about 10 miles, the CEL came on. Been on ever since. I notice some smoke after I idle about a minute at lights. A lil rev usually clears it up. My questions are... how much smoke is bad? Is my smoke too lil to cause concern or could it be a possible bad turbo or seal? How major is it that the CEL is on? I tried opening it up a lil & it kinda felt like it hesitated on me so I let off. Is my car still driveable or should I stop running it till it's fixed? Anyone got a picture of that bung extension thing for the 2nd O2 again? I saw it somewhere, can't find it again. Thanks.

Actually I did find the bung extension picture so I'm good there. I found some info on a BMW forum somewhere with CEL lights on a downpipe too, it says the CEL is nothing too.

I guess my only question yet is how major is the lil bit of smoke I get? The shop told me it might smoke at first while it breaks in so I'll assume its ok for now. I know on these forums, right after the install some people noticed smoke. I believe it was alot of thick black smoke though, mine is pretty minor so I just wanna know if its cause for concern. Don't really have time for about the next two weeks to bring the car in, could use a car though. Just wanna make sure I'm not one with a bad turbo or seal either.

with the new turbo xs downpipe and race pipe with the extended bungs and also adding anti foulers is it a permenent fix for CEL's?

yeah i'm getting just a little bit of smoke at idle. and just after taking off, the smoke clears up. i would like to know a little more about this. i have a SU midpipe and GHL CBE. they both work well together and sound great. i am really considering a CPE catted DP. what do you guys think?

I recently got a TurboXS stealthback & I had smoke & a CEL. The smoke was fixed by changing a PCV valve & the turbo, the PCV valve was majority of it. It smoked only at idle like yours. Should maybe get your car checked out, I'd recommend taking off the easy mods like intake & BOV first. Could ask a friend to see if you should bring it in or not. I still have a CEL once in awhile even though after everthing was fixed. I even tried the bung extender on teh TUrboXS pipe, I think it comes on even more now. I heard there is a diode fix or the dashhawk works. I'll address it later. Its just ugly to look at mostly.
