Turboed MP5's rule

You'd be surprised. I am running the exact setup you describe and it took me three (3) 8-10 hr nights to finish mine not counting the extra 2 days making sure everything was working right. For me it wasn't the hardwire install that took the longest - it was the electrical stuff for the fans, etc. and also getting all the old stuff off. My stock P5 exhaust manifold wouldn't budge for 2 hours! My personal means of determining how long a project takes consists of multiplying how I think it will take by 2...

This is probably the most honest and realistic quote I've read on this forum. particularly the last sentance. Thanks for keepin it real!(first)

You'd be a legendary engineer if you multiplied by a factor of 4

because mazda was lying when they started the "zoom zoom " campaign, zoom zoom was a type, it was sposta be BOOM BOOM , indicating what happens when you turbo a mazda. zoom zoom is the biggest load of s*** i have ever seen in my life! the hp numbers on any mazda are soooooo sad i wanna cry especially in todays standards, best example is the mx-5 that kinda hp in a supposed "sports" car makes me want to puke and cry cuz i love the look of any mazda, there freakin hot esp the P5 (naughty)

Ok why is it every time I run into you you are being an ass.... First of all the Zoom Zoom campain was to show that mazda is about an all around sports car. Mazdas are about balancing handling style and power. If you want a dragster then dont buy a mazda... its that simple. You have ZOOM ZOOM all wrong.

And about the MX-5... if the car sucks soo bad then why is it still the #1 roadster in the US. Why is that time after time when new roadsters with even as much as 80 more HP then the miata comes out the auto mags and reviewers still say "well it still doesnt compare to the MX-5." Dont come here and piss on people. If you want to drag race go buy a mustang. If you want an all around fun car.... get a mazda.

BTW I think the MS3 and MS6 have plenty of HP.

Cleaned up the OT posts. (admin) :p
Let's at least TRY to keep this on topic lol

As you were.

Get outta here, you don't drive a turbo P5 :D
Shortly, a forum section for only turbo'd P5's will be needed if this trend continues... There's probably some sort of mathematical relationship between turbo P5's and MSP's: the limit of turbo P5's as the the number of MSP's goes to zero is... (insert production number of MSP's here)

Hey lets not start a curse for the MSP......

Plenty of blown boosted P5's to go around too. My car still runs like the day I bought it... w00t go me. (bow)

Mine runs good still also. But I have noticed that my J and S has been picking up more detonation lately..... kinda makes me nervous.

That curse has been in place for years already. (boom07)

I think it has something to do with the fact that they were made into Mazdaspeeds at the port in North America, not by skilled japanese robot workers (whip)

Haha, I was just commenting on the fact that a lot of us are running MSP setups and MSP setups only come from one place. So either a lot of MSP's are dying or more people are upgrading their setups.

They dont have to come from MSPs cause you can get a new GT25 and now there are two direct replacement manifolds out...
One could be running an "MSP" set-up without having to get used MSP parts.

Well I sold my MSP setup but my MSP is not dead.....

Was on the expressway tonight, had some time to mess with the car now that the CEL's are gone, all i can say is having a Turbo'ed MP5 is a blast im glad i invested into this extra power, 3rd gear from 40-80 holy s***! 4th gear from 80 on out i hold a steady 5 PSI. I was on my way home from the mall and this Impala SS tried to pass me, not to mention he was riding my ass, he pulled next to me you could tell he was giving everything it got, i was only at partial throttle, just push down a little more, i was gone he followed me the whole way off the expressway and did a ricer fly by, it was cute.

All i can say is if you decide to turbo your MP5 be careful with the newfound power.

How well do turbo charged MP5 engines hold up? I am thinking of hooking mine up, too. But, I am afraid of ruining the engine. I was told that 5 psi shouldn't hurt it. What are your thoughts? What is the max that a stock MP5 can handle? Just curious.

with a good tune, you can safely run 10 psi on stock internals, possibly more, but i would never go over 10 on stock internals

Mine runs right at 7 psi, I get a spike to 9 every now and then, but I have to back off, cuz my FPR can't suck enuff fuel.
