Turbo Rotary Mazda B2600i Minitruck Build!

yea, the wiper cowl area will be used, but i cant cut it out with the dash in place. its gonna be a lot of taking the dash out and putting it backin to get everything to work right. the truck is just too damn low...

raise the air ride all the way up or put it on really tall jackstands problem solved with the to low issue or at least to work on.

No i raised the floor too much is what i meant. And goddam i looked back at this and my pics r all out of order wtf?

A lot of work there man. Sorry to hear about the pedals. Can't offer any input because your skill level is waaaaaaaay above mine. Starting to look like a truck again though.

Thanks. I agree its starting to look pretty decent lol.

Trying to sell the pedals so i can get the tilton floor mount setup that i want!

Thanks!

I was looking around on google and noticed u posted some pics of my truck on another forum!

Thats awesome! Thanks for the exposure. Makes me feel like im doing something right!

Its been a few days...where are the updates I was promised!
i must apologize. i do most of my posting from my iphone and this site is so impossible to post pics from my phone on that i have to wait until i am at home on my desktop to post updates and i am hardly ever home.

i do have updates and i am in the process of uploading everything to my flikr account as we speak...

im glad to see people still check in here every so often though!

ok where to start lol...

alright well first things first. i ordered a alternator relocation bracket from xtreme rotaries. i had been looking into this for awhile since Jon(magnump5) had purchased one. it came all the way from australia and it was such a nice piece and looked to be very high quality. so once again i followed suit and copied him once again.

this bracket takes the alternator off of the top of the engine and places it on the side out of the way and cleans up the bay a lot.

8123010140_b744403980_c.jpg

then i put in an order to Rotary Works. the water neck i have right now, which is stock, was hitting the turbo. so i came across this one that faces towards the radiator instead of going around it.

very quality stuff!

and installed

turns out that this one hit the turbo even worse so i came to a crossroads and finally realized that the turbo manifold i had waited over a year and a half for just wasnt going to work.... more on that later...

so i started tearing s*** apart....

well a person can only get so mad and irritated about something before they give up and have to either walk away and work on something else or just junk a project altogether. well i have way to much time and money into this to get rid of it, so i move my sights towards the rear of the truck.

i had been looking for a rear bumper for this truck to get rid of the roll pan for a very long time and i finally came across one in good shape.

8123005668_968076f127_c.jpg

so i ground off the paint and filler and got to bare metal to find the welds on the pan.

and cut it out.

i also picked up a tailgate. dont remember if i have posted that yet or not lol.

was so happy with the quality of the Rotary Works products that i placed another big order.

turbo feel line and fittings

8122972655_40f2bcdb87_c.jpg

ten row aluminum oil cooler.

8122971831_8e37045ab5_c.jpg

and finally an aluminum radiator from an fb RX7 that fits like a glove!

8122970447_03af811836_c.jpg

so a few weeks had passed and i had been doing research again on a turbo manifold and of course i couldnt find anything premade that was going to work so i decided i am going to build my own.

8122986250_3779ba1b97_c.jpg

after hours of sitting and staring at the manifold that put my build on hold for a year plus i decided i just needed to start cutting...

8122968335_2154f87e1d_c.jpg

8122967005_a04bc9622a_c.jpg

i wanted to cut it up in a way that if i had to put it back together or found a way that a minor tweak would work that i could go that direction...

8122958665_5ed6e50c43_c.jpg

8122957845_b07cd92537_c.jpg

but of course with my luck thats never gonna work, so its time to start from scratch...

8122971034_a1b4dd6fbc_c.jpg

thats as far as i got on that for right now, but i think i have a pretty good game plan.

so i am getting closer to startup even though i still have to builld and plumb a turbo manifold...

so the other day i decided its time to get rid of this rats nest and emissions bulls***.

all of this will eventually be polished and cleaned up. but for right now this will do the trick.

8122950215_280dce8046_c.jpg

and now for the mother of all updates.

i have been talking about running this standalone and how close i feel i am getting to startup and it amazed me that nobody has really talked about wiring. well i hate wiring and also i dont have the correct tools or knowledge to build a harness the way that i would want.

so i made a few calls and emails and pms and spoke with a few reputable shops about a complete one off harness for this truck. most places wanted upwards of $2k for a harness. then i happened upon Chris Ludwig from Ludwig Motorsports. those of u in the rotary world should know this name and i have nothing but great things to say about Chris.

after many emails and phone calls the measurements and pictures were finally sent off. i knew this would not be a quick turnaround so i posted up in this thread that i ordered a big part and that it will be here in a few months.

well u guys mustve forgotten but myself and Mr. Ludwig did not.

so after a decent wait and some problems with the mail man i finally got to open up my new amazing harness this morning!

so now i am looking to get this thing wired up and ready to run. gotta finish a turbo manifold and run some other lines also.

i also have a meeting with a truck club in denver on the 24th of next month to start petitioning for them and i have to take my truck. so i have to get it in order to go on a trailer. so that is my first priority.

ill try and keep this updated better!

damn nice updates.. that harness looks great and attention to detail is noticeable even in the pictures. cannot wait to see how you fix your manifold and get everything installed.

Nice! Harness looks real clean. Too bad you had to hack up your manifold but you'll probably come up with a better design anyways. Not too sure about the rear bumper though. Doesn't seem to flow well with the rest of the truck. Knowing you though you probably won't leave it stock.

Every time I see the update on your build, makes me want to drop a 13b in my b26! And I like that you went back to a bumper and working tailgate. Looks good, keep up the good work!

Im sure gonna try and get out in the garage today. First day off in weeks and im exhausted.

Hopefully have some more updates soon!

Yeah i definitely have a better design for the manifold. It will bring the turbo away from the engine to keep heatsoak down and not boil my radiator hoses and such.

Hopefully it turns out like i have it in my head!

Do it! But dont do it like i did lol. Just slap it in and run the stock ecu lol.

And yes im very excited to have a rear bumper and tailgate back on.

Damn near every minitruck puts a roll pan and gets rid of the tailgate. Kinda funny that i took my roll pan off and put a bumper back on.
