Turbo Rotary Mazda B2600i Minitruck Build!

Are you running the ID2000's as secondaries in conjunction with the stock primaries (staged) or just two ID2000's? Believe it or not two ID2000's as secondaries isn't that rare of a setup. Makes my 2 x ID1000 setup seem tiny, LOL!

Wow, solid update!
thanks

oh i agree with Southern Ontario sucking, but not all of Canada is that bad.

when do you think you will have everything needed to get the truck running?

if i could ever get more than a week at home then i could get all my measuring done and check all my clearances to order the final big piece that i need. then its just vacuum lines and fuel lines and such and i can turn it over. was hoping to order the fnal piece before i go to ND, but im not sure if its going to happen. it is really close to running. i just need time more than anything!

well last night i decided to stop being a pansy and get busy back out in the garage.

i needed a little liquid motivation first. always smooth...

started by trimming down the all thread to fit into my bracket so i can mount my coils. Thanks to Magnum for letting me copy his bracketry design for my coild for the time being!

7788453114_dfe747bf36_c.jpgp

then crudely fabbed up the bracket.

then messed around with where imma put my computer. this looks like a pretty solid spot. Original huh?

7788459934_8c22284eb7_c.jpg

i had a u bend of 2 1/2" exhaust pipe that was just laying around. even though imma run 3 inch exhaust i figured i would mess around and see how imma run my exhaust.

ive been having ideas running through my head like crazy on how to build my new tubular core support and how exactly im going to get everything to mount up like grill and headlights and all that fun stuff. so i just decided to see if my ideas would work in real life. so heres a step by step so far of the way i thought would be the most functional and look the best...

and where i left off.

i was pretty happy with what i got done last night. ran out of sunlight, but i am going to head back out today and see if i can get a little more done. i need to mount my ecu and take some measurements and also get some more metal work done.

guess we will see what the day holds...

Very cool. Interested to see how it'll end up mounting to the frame as well! I didn't even think about it before!

Wat do i need to do to mount the turbo an my b2200 i have a13b

It's a lot of work if I knew how to post pics I would show u mine is in just about ready to drive just got some body work and wiring left to do but it's be a job and I didn't have to make a whole mother front end or any thing like that that motor and trannt fits right down in there perfect with a lil fabbing. But trust me if u don't have atleast $10,000 to do everything u need as far as motor tranny metal intercooler oil coolers etc. I wouldn't start it I have put that plus in mine but I spent $3500 on the straightest body job u will ever see on a Mazda lol.

I have a few options.
Really all depends on how i mount the radiator and such.

Umm...

Awesome progress mymmery. How much HP do you expect to put down?
planning a modest 300hp at the wheels...

Modest....?

I'm not sure there's anything modest about your build man! (headbang)
Wish I could see it in person when it's done.

Lol. I just keep thinking of this as an rx7 build...

Chances are good that u may be able see it in person. I plan on hitting a few shows down in texas but i realize texas is huge and u may have to drive a few hours...

Im in north dakota again. Spent the last 5 out of 7 weeks up here in this ****hole.

Going back tomorrow to Colorado. I have updates from parts ordered and such, but cant post pics from my iphone...

Hoping to get busy on the truck with the last month of summer before it starts getting cold.

Sorry to disappoint...

Let me know when you're heading down to Texas and I'll try to make my way up to where you're at. If I drove 8 hrs round trip for a pair of seats I can definitely drive 8hrs round trip to check out your "modest project".

The truck will be at Lake Havasu in Arizone for spring break in April 2013.

It wont be done, but it will be there...

well its been forever since i updated this.

i hate that i cant post pics from my iphone on here so thats why updates r so few and far between. i have actually been doing a lot of work on the truck...

lets see if i can remember where i left off...

first off i got some parts in.

Hargett quick disconnect coupler for my intercooler piping to turbo. these things r legit!

then picked up this vacuum block.

So then i mounted up my AEM coils using the same exact design that Jon used...

Yep...

7952413502_b8fed89e6a_c.jpg

I was going to tuck these away out of sight, but i figured i would show off my more expensive mods even though the bay will be completely tucked. I thought this would be a good spot for the coils.

Some of you may remember that i am planning on running a Wilwood reverse mount pedal setup on this truck. so i decided i want to have the pedals mounted up since i am getting pretty close to startup on this truck so i wanna be able to drive it when it fires up.

7952396934_5c7179e660_c.jpg

I bent up some small pieces for the mounting brackets.

7952148958_4886a57381_c.jpg

so i did all of that for nothing because when i tried to put the m/c on and mount it in the truck it didnt fit. the m/c are too big, so either i need to get the remote m/c or i may be looking to sell my whole setup and get a floor mounted Tilton pedal setup. im not quite sure yet, but this pissed me off pretty bad...

remote mount so you can access and see those puppies eaiser

Edit: Ever think of mounting stuff int he wiper cowl area? It looks like your going to nix the wipers so might as well use that spot and a place to hide crap!

so then i had this ford ranger bumper sitting around. so i decided i needed to mount it so i can mount my intercooler and radiator and and and...

basically it was holding me back from final mounting of other things, so i tried mounting it by myself.... IMPOSSIBLE!

7952119652_7509346de6_c.jpg

so i waited til the wifey was off work and had her change into some dirty clothes and come be my holder so i could get everything lined up and brackets made so i didnt have to hold it and weld and have to redo it five hundred times...

so i welded on my brackets on the stock brackets...

7952117876_d0889c5611_c.jpg

7952109386_681fc983a8_c.jpg

then i tacked everything in place. sorry i missed a few steps cuz i was in the groove. but here is the bumper in place...

7952115984_1067de715f_c.jpg

picture of the brackets fully welded. still need to gusset them, but u get the idea...

7952111112_3c8a69b175_c.jpg

grill back on...

7952105928_83a08be98b_c.jpg

and now the fun begins...

7952104458_25604f9f4c_c.jpg

so i didnt take a lot of pics of the process of this once again because i pretty much forgot to. but this is how i mounted my intercooler...

i cut a piece of sheetmetal to length and drilled holes in it for the mounting bolts. then i mounted it up and spaced it where i wanted it in the bumper opening.
then i built L brackets and welded everything up...

7964515388_e26caa5cfa_c.jpg

7964511332_81d0e7d2b8_c.jpg

then i drilled more holes in the bracket for a baller look and fully welded it up.

7964459180_ab4ffb76ef_c.jpg

7964464148_dcf10810ae_c.jpg

then i cut my core support and made mounting brackets for it so its fully removable and solid mounted.

7964500726_1f8f0e2395_c.jpg

7964499142_b1261ac2e6_c.jpg

and all back together.

7964473728_238de55f5f_c.jpg

so i am at a crossroads with a few things.

first off is the pedal setup. either way its gonna cost a lot of money to do it right. so i guess we shall see how that all turns out.

then i am thinking of doing a rx7 IRS since i have to change over to 5 lug for the wheels i want and i might as well just do the rx7 rearend while im at it. again this is more money and would involve a new rear section of frame to be built, so this is also up in the air as well... i just cant find a damn rear end for a rx7 at a decent price to save my life...

i made a big purchase that is about a month out from being at my door(fingers crossed)

so i should have updates soon. i go back to North Dakota for 2 weeks and 4 days on the 21st so nothing will be happening during that time. im running out of warm days and sunlight, so i need to get busy on the truck. gonna try and do some stuff today if time allows!

yea, the wiper cowl area will be used, but i cant cut it out with the dash in place. its gonna be a lot of taking the dash out and putting it backin to get everything to work right. the truck is just too damn low...
