Turbo inlet size?

Can some one with a Mazdaspeed 3 turbo laying around please verify the inlet size. I have heard 2" but I need to be sure. I want to build a inlet pipe to work with my Cobb intake and can't tear the car apart to check the size right now. I just know if I buy a 2" elbow and the inlet is 2.25" I will never be able to get them together.

Any news on this? I was thinking of doing something along the same lines. Someone else here made their own, but had to hack the ECU cover. That was with 3" pipe. I wonder if doing the same with 2 or 2 1/2" would work better. Either way, still seems better than stock.

I have a 2" to 2.5" elbow. 2.5" od pipe just fits into my Cobb silicone part. I was thinking if the 2.5" may or may not be any better than the factory piece. I am running vta with the standback so I am building a simple 2.5" inlet with one nipple for the vacuume line only.

Not too sure what the 2.5" pipe will or will not do. I know the MAF is like 2.70" inside. If the stock inlet pipe is 2.5" though..............just run with it. The Turbo inlet is only 2" so anything more than that will be good I guess?

The stock duct inlet is 2 3/8". It has added buldges and dents for recirc and clearance in the engine bay. Like you said the 2" inlet is still there and I am upping the intake diameter 1/8" but deleting the lumps and restrictions I hope. I will have to bend the pipe so I may do a JDM style chop and weld every 15 degrees. I will probably baseline with the stock pipe, then swap this one on, then tune the s*** out of my car in the next month or two. I also plan to open up the battery area and make a smaller tray (maybe a smaller battery) and brackets to bolt the stock pcm and standback to.

The JDM thing came up because they make pipes like this for fab work that I may copy.
