Tree Sap!

:wtf:

It's impossible to get out, my hands are dying. I still have little specks of it on the roof of my car. Should I use something in paticular or just keep scrubbing.

Go to the hardware store and find a bottle of "Goof Off". I used it to remove the glue from underneath the Protege5 emblem. It works great and won't harm your paint. Should get the sap off in a matter of seconds!
I used to live in the southeastern part of the country, so I feel your pain about the tree sap!

Rubbing alcohol works excellent. It's cheap and won't harm the finish on your car. Works better than almost anything I have tried. It even cleans the sap off your hands.

Clay bar will pull that right up. Goo off may be too harsh on paint in a large enough quantity to get it off. I have real issues with this where I live in NC and clay bar and then a coat of wax does the trick. Plus that makes it easier to get off next time.

Clay bar; $10.00 www.meguiars.com

I agree that Goof Off will be too harsh if not used in moderation. The clay bar should work ok, but they are expensive. Rubbing alcohol will disolve the sap and it will wipe right off. I used to live in an area surrounded by pine trees and there would always be globs of sap all over my car.

Rubbing Alchohol, Acetone, 3M bug & tar remover, all of those work fine. If you know that what you're using is very strong, try deluting it in some water before using or your paint.

I used the alchol. Thanks for the tips, and the rubbing alchol worked like a WONDER!

btw my mom told me rubbing alchol can mess up your paint, is hat true?

I used vegetable oil and a cotton puff thing....

Worked on my moms car...haven't had to use it on mine yet! Don't ask where I heard that crazy recipie...Just something I remembered.

Rubbing alcohol will not harm the paint. It is a trick that many detailers use. If you do a search on a popular search engine, you will get lots of hits. Just type in rubbing alcohol tree sap in google or a search engine of your choice and you will get quite a few results.

After you use the alcohol, it's usually good to put a fresh coat of wax in the area you cleaned the sap off of.

Goof Off WILL harm your paint! My clear coat came off from behind my badges and when I took off the ES on the sides, the Goof Off dripped to the side panel and TOOK the paint right off. It turned ******* white. I had to get touch up paint and it still looks like s***. Stupid Goof-Off licks my hairy ass hole.
