Transmission Question

Hey everybody,
This has always been happening, but I thought I'd ask finally. I've noticed that our transmission doesn't like to be driven much in the low gears (1st or 2nd) at low rpms. Say you are driving through a parking lot in 1st and are going slow. If you try to speed up by giving it a little gas, the car will buck pretty bad. If you switch to second, it lessens the effect, but still jerks you around a bit. The solution is to constantly put the clutch in and out, but its a bit tedious.
I've driven an older Mazda MX6 and Toyota Corrola with manual trans, and didn't have the effect to this extent... Is this common? Is it a problem, or just something to get used to? Thanks guys! ;)

trans jolt

I had the same problem with my mp3 and I took it to the dealership and it was a programing problem and they downloaded the newest program but they are supposed to be working on it in japan to fix it for good

If I'm ever going through parking lots I always keep the clutch out a little that way it just slips if it does it too much

I have the same problem but it seems to get me on the interstates. Yes, it's in 1st and second gear. Too many dumbasses in Indy like to come to a complete stop on the interstate every morning. It took me 95 minutes to go 22 miles last week. Haven't been on that interstate since. Dumbasses should understand my car wasn't made to go slow and they should get the hell ou tof my way!
Oh, sorry to stray. Yes, I have the exact same problem. If it is the motor mounts, I don't think I can change them myself to something stronger and stay in stock class for racing, but if I can get the dealer to do it for free, hmm, that just might be worth investigating....

I also have the same problem every now in first, especially when I'm walking the interstate during rush hour! Only other time I've noticed having trouble though is with 2nd gear... when I get on it a bit and try to shift to 2nd it will just grind. I know it's not me cause I've been driving MT ever since I started driving!

It'd be nice to find out exactly what they did on your car londart...is it possible for you to find out from your dealership and let your fellow MP3ers know?

I know kind of what they did, but I don't have a teah bulliten #, but they said that it was a programing prob. and they downloaded the newest program, and that they called mazda and they said that they knew about it and they were working on it.

This is a common problem with all high end 4 cyls. All 8 honda 's I had did it in 1st gear ( With the exception of the 97 lude that was smooooth, although still did it from time to time), and the more horspower/torque they had, the worse it was. Most other 4 cyls I've driven do the same thing.

Not a big problem, I've learned to live with it over the years, and be really soft on the gas. In fact, I never even thought of it until I read this thread.

Put me in the club too. I experience this all the time. I probably won't even bother with an ECU upgrade seeing how I will have to reprogram for my FS-ZE engine.
