2003.5 Mazda Speed Protege
I was out racing tonite and the person that i was racing said he had almost bought my car a couple weeks back and he was told by a dealership employee that the 2003 msp protege wasnt the right car to buy if ur gonna put money into it. The guy said if u end up puttin headers or anything else to upgrade the car in general it will only get up to 200 horses and the trans will end up going out.

Is this a fact or opinion just curious ?

haha seriously...tell him to shove those headers up his butt. then go find out who the dealership employee was and kick his ass as well. there are many people on this board who are beyond 200 whp.

yeah that is what i was sayin man he had i think a 97 integra but i whooped his ass he feels salty now;) haha

you should tell him his car was low on some tachometer fluid and that he should change it out soon. if not, he's gonna do some damage to his o-rings in his head gasket.

damn ricer... header on a turbo'd car... whatta moron.

i just cant wait to get my first upgrade but funds are low right now cuz i just bought it any ideas on what i should start wit i was thinkin boost gauge and then the innercooler bov package

Crazy, I was going to hold off on saying anything but man, PLEASE read the archived threads in this section. I know you have a new car and it's all new to you but research is the best investment you'll make on this car.

Read the older articles.. I'm not saying go all of the way back to the 2002 threads but at least go back a bit. Understanding your car gives you MUCH more of a complete feeling.

bUY BiGGar INNERCOOLARR!! MOAR POWAR!! WOOOO

On a serious note, i dont think you need to worry. This car is supercharged turbo with a special "rotary tranny case" that is stronger than normal. This is actually why he said to get a header, since it has an outlet for the transmissions fumes.

Is this supposed to be sarcasm? Because a lot of racing engines use Orings on the head gaskets. Several of my heads for me race car are machine grooved for Orings.

Wasn't that from the Mustang GT-R video??? LOL Everytime I need a laugh, that thing never fails. DAMMIT... where did I put that file?

ha...I laugh everytime I read people listening to dealers. If you been on the board for awhile you'll know the you should never take the word of your dealer or "salesman."

#1) I believe Headers are for NA cars. On turbo cars they are called Exhaust manifold...if you wanna get tecnical. And why would you need a new exhaust manifold? The sales guy is an idiot and knows nothign about turboed vehicles. Easiest way to gain power is to get ride of the restrictive dual inline cats we have on the MSP...thats good for some whp and your turbo will thank you. And if you want serious power boost controller (but be warned about the effect of just cranking up the boost without proper tunning). You can achieve well over 200hp safely with a boost controller if you have proper tuning. There areticals on the NEwstand of the MSP getting 210hp with simple bolt ons.

SO in other word your "challenger" just been duped and owned by the sales guy. I hope you smoked him for knowing nothing and being "tricked" outta the MSP. Do him a favor and tell him never to listen to the So called "mazdaspeed specialist" My guy didnt know it had a turbo and told me to put regular gas...and he was the MAzdaspeed guy. this was his exact words, "Kelvin, I know you know more about this car then me...so tell me about this car." I went in there to try to join teh tire for life program and the guy says he cant replace them...its not like I have the same tires on the RX-8s. They didnt know the RX-8 and MSp uses Potenzas RE04s

It not fact or opinion...its called "bulls***" and misleading information. He probally told the guy to go with a MPV mini van cuz you can get 1000hp from the 4 cylinder rotary piston engine.
