traction problems

so, I've recently started driving my car harder now that its broken in, and when I shift into second from first and I am accelerating hard, my front wheels lose traction and chirp. Does everyone else have this problem? Is there anything that can be done about this (besides keeping the RPMs a little lower or letting the clutch out slower)?

That or get a job somewhere that sells tires, you'll be needing a new set soon.

You could always put on a set of Wide Street Slicks, I'm sure you could find a width that would fit, and a slick that you would have a harder time breaking traction.

all wheel drive conversion?

great idea!!!

By the way, this isnt meant to be offensive, but how old are you,a nd have you ever had a "tuner" car before??

yeah, I have the tire chirp too. it always seems to happen when I redline it and then dump the clutch into second...

in all seriousness, if you're being serious with this post then you just need to not drive your car so hard. the better the car (more power) then the more likely you're going to chirp tires and spin them in the rain... don't redline the car and go foot to the floor while shifting. have fun in the car but don't whine about how well it performs (rofl2)

You call 2nd gear chirping a traction problem? :p

Think it has anything to do with the type of LSD on the car.

It's a torque sensing viscous coupling type right? Meaning the wheel has to loose traction before the LSD action kicks in.

I read about the old Z's that had these type of LSDs and on high power Z's they fry the LSD very quickly. I was looking at the Phantom Grip mechanical LSDs. They are pretty cheap and seem to have a good reputation.

Since I upped the boost to 9 psi, installed the Injen CAI, and got the ECU flash:

if I launch normally, and keep it at WOT in 1st gear, the stock tires break loose and spin at around 5000 RPM.

Now THAT's a traction problem.

Hell i lose traction in 1st gear at 8psi.. and im stock except for the MBC and a K&N cone.

Cant wait to get my intake and hard pipes on... theyre made, waiting on the HKS flange....

I loose it at 4 PSI, ah T3s are fun :D

Can't wait for 15 PSI and slipping in 5th.

ok, so i have figure out that you are all smart asses.......and that I guess I'm not used to having a 'tuner car'.......but thanks to those of you who replied with serious posts......and thanks for making me feel like ass, those of you who were sarcastic. I drove a '98 jeep grand cherokee before this, so anything is an improvement.
BUT.....I'm really not driving it that hard......when i get that traction loss, im shifting at 4500 rpms from first into second and then giving it gas......i havent come within 1000 of redline yet.......

I found after I had the ecu update, that accelerating in 1st or 2nd, say on a wet road, or up a hill, even on some dry, resulted in wheels spin. Once the turbo kick in, if the peddle was to the floor she'll spin. I'm not talking about changing gears, and getting spin. I'm talking about yor already in 2nd, and you give it a shot of gas, then get wheel spin. Now that I have the winters on, it's even more evident.

Nothing wrong there, just a little lead foot syndrome. I ain't complaining about that.

Icourtnage, Pleez update your car info in user cp.
