Torque Solutions Shifter bushings... shifter in general...

So I got my car back from the shop tonight after they closed... I am not 100% thrilled with the car, but I can't really blame them for anything because they had never driven the car before the engine blew to know what it was supposed to feel like...

I had them install the shifter bushings while the engine and trans were out of the car... now when I get in the car and try to drive it feels a little sluggish for one but that may just be me since I haven't driven the car in awhile and there is so much "new" to it I am not sure what is normal. I do know one thing that ISN'T normal is that the shifter feels VERY sloppy now as opposed to BEFORE the engine blew and on the original shifter bushings. The ones replaced are the two blue ones near the front of the car.

Are there some other bushings in the shifter system somewhere that would control the side to side slop that I now have?

I have another little noise too that I am not sure about and they did NOT install my AWR side mount inserts because they said something about having to burn the centers out to install them? I don't think they read the instructions or read instructions for something else... I will probably have to take the car back to them this week and see what they can do about a couple of things...

All in all I am glad it runs, but now I think I am regretting all the $$$$ I have spent on this car in the last three or four months only to have the LSD and the engine blow up two months apart...

This is making a Wrangler or a Magnum SRT8 starting to look a LOT better... :(

I think I may have found my answer... but looking forward to some other opinions... I suspect that the smaller set of bushings may have been compromised on reinstallation of the transmission/engine. It has been removed and installed 3 times in the last two months.... I will probably order the Corksport oil bushing kit since the stock shifter treats me just fine... I will try to crawl under there and check out the bushings tomorrow in the light... but if anyone thinks it may be something else I am open to second opinions...

I have never messed with the shifter but I know there are large polyurethane bushings in the front by the trans and smaller bushings on the base of the shifter itself which are where the bronzoil bushings go. The car probably feels sluggish because it's on the stock tune and the ECU was reset. Give it time to set the fuel tables and adjust itself.

Yeah I ordered only the large bushing for our cars... (Yours is in the box with the TS exhaust hangers) I didn't have enough left this week to order two sets of the Corksport bronze bushings buttttt you will at least get to see how they feel in my car in case you want to get them later... they warn they may not work with all aftermarket shifters also. The end at the trans wouldn't be an issue, but the end for the shifter could have some issues I guess on some aftermarket shifters.

The car does feel a little more responsive engine-wise... but there is still something going on with the clutch other than the sloppy shifter. I plan on taking a Monday off in the next month or so... hopefully we can meet up and see about installing the Forge BPV in this car and putting the bushings and spark plug wires on yours. What kind of spark plugs are you running in yours by the way???

I am down to install that Forge any time it's been sitting in my room waiting to be installed on your car, it matches the Forge WG perfectly. Have you replaced the slave cylinder or clutch line yet? I have NGK iridium plugs in it now but have a brand new never installed set of ZFR6F-11 which are the OEM plugs that you can have if you want them.

Update: I had the Corksport bronze bushings in the freezer for two and a half days and took them to the shop this morning. They drove the car in and put it up the rack... the two front plastic bushings were COMPLETELY gone, vanished, poof... so that explains the shifter slop. 15 minutes later the bronze bushings were in and the front tire popped off the rim to get some rocks out from between the bead and the rim... Off the rack and took it for a drive... it's better for sure... Ryan needs to drive it and tell me if it feels ok again since I have been without it for a lot of the last three months and so much new has been done to it I can't tell if it is back to 95-100% or not...

The side engine mount inserts still need installed and a couple of other things I think too... but it feels safe enough to drive again so I am going to give it a couple of weeks and see what it does...

Ryan, busy Monday after around 3:30 or 4pm???

Sorry to thread jump, but,

My shifter started to feel a little tight going into 3rd and 4th could this be happening because of the bushings? or should i look towards the gearcase oil?
