welli have a '96 protege w/ about 160000miles on it, and i hit 120 (like 5000rpm), and was still gaining speed, but then saw 2 big 18-wheelers blocking the road....so i pretty much wanted to live and slowed down, which was a b**** to do

105 MPH. I have no problem getting up to 100 and back to like 80. I've never gone over 105 since I was in high school when I redlined my dad's celica going 120 for 8 minutes at like 2 in the morning. I'm sure the protege could break 125 considering how easy it is to get to 100 for me.

I'm all for speed, and velociy is my bread and butter, but top speed just doesn't do it for me.

So the 33.8 miles was the distance to hit that speed? LOL. I've had mine to 110 and it takes FOR EVER.

not to brag but i hit 131 mph on my way to cali from vegas with a stock 5 speed mp5...130 mph was the average after 6 tries, it took forever tho...

ive gotten up to 100 in about 1/2 mile but definately no more than 3/4 of a mile. it was on a small stretch of back road.

my top speed is 128mph on the michelin track in south carolina. n it didn't seem to take that long. at the time my car was all stock. my es can do 110 fairly easy but as long as im flooring the car. if i let up even a little bit it starts to take a long time. especially in 4th gear.

i dont know of ANY standard suv that can go 125. they all have governors for like 90-100. They had to have removed the governor.

I better say it first...i'm not including performance suvs(which are car wannabes)...or as BMW calls them now SAV. the x3 can hit like 125-130(around that)
anyway top speed is only good for trying to get away from cops...hehe

5th gear 6500rpm and 138mph hit it quite a few times! Old car I hit 145 a few times as well!
