Too Simple???

"Professionals" say that the miata was designed for simplicity. But what would happen if you complicate it with AWD? Something maybe of a Subaru...(bolt)

Is this even possible with how narrow the NA tranny tunnel is?

Anything is possible. My Miata is an example of that. However, why would you need AWD? I guess it would help in bad weather; but, mine usually stays in the garage, then. Not all of us are that lucky, though. Would AWD rob what little power there is to drive the two extra wheels?

Actually, the Roush Mustang retains the 4.6 engine and has the 5 speed tranny that came with the stock GT. It does have suspension changes and a Roushcharger, though. It's a 427r. The T56 tranny is hooked to the LS6 in the Miata. The combo produces 440whp. Nice power in a cute little car.

that IS a nice combination

How heavy is your yata with that 6.0l? How much does it change the weight distribution from front to back?

To be honest, I haven't weighed it. I want to do that, just for fun; but, it's one of those things one thinks about and never seems to get around to. I do have a receipt that shows it weighed 2675 lbs; but, I have no idea what's changed since then. He did move the engine back a couple of inches from standard installations to give it better distribution and allow more spacing for the radiator and fan. It would be interesting to see how that came out.

Keep in mind that my purchase was to make the car a show car; so, all out performance was not part of the requirements. I have to admit, having a LS6 under the hood is nice, though. Handling is much like the other Miatas I've owned. It just has more power to tap, when needed. When tapped, the ride becomes quite a rush. Zoom-zoom!
