Tires for the P5

SO there is an ad for 4 tires and rims....$350

195 55 15 eurowin 550 and steel rims. He said there is a ton of tread left and that they have seen less than 7000km...

Thoughts?

Anyone who says that Kuhmo ASX are good in snow doesn't drive in snow!
Here in WI we get a decent amount of snow every year. I run a set of ASX (stock size) in the summer. They absolutely SUCK in the snow. I run Dunlop Graspic DS-2 (stock size) in the winter. They are basically a cheaper version of the Blizzak WS-50 that perform, in my opinion as good as the Blizzaks. Other than that, the Pirellie P-zero Nero M+S are supposedly decent in snow.

Oh, and remember. A narrower tire is better in snow! Don't go any wider than 195 if you can help it.

It bugs me when people talk about their budget when it comes to tires.

TIRES ARE YOUR LIFELINE!

If you live in an area that gets snow or ice, you should have a set of 4 snow tires. They are cheaper than a single fender-bender. If you get stuck in a ditch you will pay more to have your car fixed. Furthermore, they take miles off your all-season/summer tires so you really aren't paying more for them. Additionally, many snow tires can be used as summer tires toward the end of their life saving you even more miles from your all-seasons/summers.

I cannot express how important it is to have the proper tires on your car with adequate tread. It prevents accidents and saves lives.

Er so, i already have a set of snow tires (blizzaks i believe) but i was looking around where to find just the steel wheels on tirerack and couldnt find them. Anyone know where i could get a decent set of 4 steel wheels to save my wheels from damage and corrosion, and so i dont have to pay to get the damn things switched over twice a year?

Just put mine on tonight! I run a 185/65R14 acutally brought them over from my old car, only had one winter on them. Just had to get some 5-bolt rims!

try tirerack.com..

i found the tires i wanted on tirerack then called the local tire dealer by me and haggled down the price so it was cheaper then tirerack.

i had my new set of KUMHO ECSTA ASX's put on last night...world of difference @ $80/ea. installed.

the tires i have are already 16's... and i'm not going to pay over $100 per steel wheel.... but i will see if discounttire has 16"

I just got my order from Tire Rack earlier this week. Ended up going with 185/60-15 w/alloy rims & Michilin X-ice tires. BIG difference in traction from the 195/50-16 summers. Total bill came to $680us.

I just bought some off tire rack for my wife's car. I had to select their tire/wheel winter package and then remove the tires from my shopping cart. It worked perfectly and the wheels were at my door in about 3 days. I think they were like $35 each ($140 total).

No way 14" steel wheels will be $100 a piece. I bet you could get 14" steelies/tires for the same price and just the 16" tires. You can save your rims from the winter roads too.
