Just got confirmation today that the new tint law has gone into effect as of june 1st. As far as i can tell it only effects the front two windows and they have to be 32% +/- 3%...i guess for the time being anybody who has their windows tinted can pull either the "sorry officer i didnt know" or the " i bought it like this"

the law is not retro active so if you have a reciept with date of install you can fight any tickets you get and win rather easily. Otherwise look out cause they will pull you over for any reason at all here in Georgia.

You know what's funny? They did a story on the news about the new tint law and chico, a tint guy in columbus was talking about how important it was that the higher tint percentage be enacted. "It can be a danger to officers," and stuff like that.
But if you pay him cash and get no receipt, he'll put the lowest tint possible on your car.

I understand the whole safety issue, cops not wanting to get *surprise!* shot and all.
But if you're too much of a moron to roll down your window when you get pulled over, the cop should be able break your window with his baton.

well i got pulled over today, wasnt doing anything stupid either, i was driving to balanced performance to get them to fix my tranny leak, and guess what!!
There was a Police road block checking for seat belts and anything else, there were 7 cops standing there checking, I made it passed all but one!!!
i had my windows down when the cop came up to me, told me to roll the window up some and he checked it it was 15.2%!! he also said my sunshade is illegal and my rear windows wich there not, i check at the place that put the tint on going to cost me $50 to remove it on the front 2 doors and $75 for legal tint.
My court date is Aug 1 2005, not sure what im doing yet, since its not a point violation as fars as i know, I imight just wait and pay it just before the court date and hope not to get pulled for it agian.
The way i see it since they just reinstated the law there all gung-ho right now, in 3 months it should be like it was.
Or i can pay the $125 get legal tint put on and have the car look weird, and goto court and see if i can suck up enough to get it wiped.

Sorry, but that's really funny about your post the day before and now. My car has tint on it, I have no idea what because it had it when I bought it. It does have a sticker on each window that says "complies with 35%". I hope that would be enough.

DOH! That sucks.
I guess it's no darker than 32 for me... that's probably as dark as I want anyway. I've been in cars with really dark tint anyway and I feels kind of claustrophobic, and visibility seems to take a hit.
