The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

....hell track the Neon. I have a friend, Missy Davis that competes in wheel to wheel in NASA PTF, she runs a Neon....I have watched her grow from auto-x, to HPDE's , to TT's and now wheel to wheel.....all with one car, her Neon.......
That neon (Patrick's) was tracked by the very first owner and myself, it was literally set up for it. It no longer has the Konis but throw suspension on it and it's ready.

Scrolling through here has me dumbfounded why everyone is suddenly buying CLEAN ASS Miatas and dailying them in the bad salty winter. Quickest way to destroy a car. Between the bro drifting and stance scene, clean miatas are slowly disappearing.

I didn't have much of a choice to DD mine after the smart incident. "Having no trouble" is putting it lightly. Full tread blizzaks would probably still not allow me to go straight most of the time. I have spent plenty of time at a 45 degree angle to the road advancing forward. It's all the car can do with the open diff and limited traction due to its weight.

As far as electronics, I HATE them. HATE. But in the snow, in certain situations, they help. I still wouldn't pick ABS if there was a choice, though. Stability control is nice as long as it's not too invasive (like the smart). The 2 had just enough that I left it on usually unless I was really pushing the car.

and Jess I am not going to dd the miata I get. It will be a track weekend fun garaged car. I will dd the ms3 as it will be put back to the way it was before I messed it up

Also, I don't like magenta font. I have a miata and make lots of gay jokes, but I have limits...

I listen to those guys at work, they're cool. Steel Panther makes me angry (and horny), but Justin Bieber calms me down before I go to bed.

Naming your racing team PMS Racing and having giant decals of Princess Peach on your truck & car but magenta font is you limit?

im more worried about the bolded quote than i am even about his whole PMS, Princess Peach deal LOL

Got my review today, got a raise similar to last year. Was encouraged to do a few more things so I can assist the manager once we hire a couple more people, we’ll see how that goes. Haven’t been able to find good candidates.

I must be the only one in existence who enjoys FWD and RWD performance driving. The difference in dynamics are both enjoyable for me.

my 2001 'rolla is a beast in snow. I've gone through stuff i shouldn't have in it. All stock except for Sirius XM & Heated Seat Covers. I'm soooo impressed with how this thing does in snow. she's amazed me this winter going through drifts & such. There was a 4 foot drift in my mom's driveway & this thing made it through. I was a little scared when she slowed to a crawl, but she plowed through it. Even my mom was shocked that it made it through.

Too much drifting. Exhausted, lol.

Cleaned snow out of my wheels at least 3 times. It was super icy out there in plowed parking lots!

I thought the 2 did well enough in the snow/ice yesterday. It only got stuck when I tried to go places I shouldn't (e.g. unplowwed parking lot with 6-8" of snow/ice). As for the electronic aids, I think they're great once you're moving. ETC does a very good job at keeping our Jetta, 2, and Flex going in a straight line. It only sucks when you start to lose traction when starting from a dead stop or going up a hill because it cuts power to the spinning wheel and I stay stuck. It's not an issue with the Flex and it's AWD.

I do think something got messed up in the 2 yesterday. I did a lot of wheel spinning when I got stuck a couple times yesterday and toward the end I was getting severe vibration. I thought it was just the tire rapidly gaining/losing traction but this morning there was a noticeable "clunk" at startup, popping noises from the suspension (more so than usual), and there was moderate vibration at highway speeds. Crap...

Motor mounts?

Motor mounts?
A possible explanation of the clunk at start up but it doesn't explain the vibration at speed (doesn't occur at 50 mi/hr or lower) or suspension noise. If it ever stops snowing or being so damned cold I can lift it up and take a better look. Are the rear motor mounts on these things just as bad as those in other Mazda cars (e.g. 3, Protege)?
