The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Well that doesn't do me any good lol. Why doesn't it start? I feel like I should know.

not sure, it would turn over but wouldn't start. tried a fuel pump and all fuses look good. replace the coil packs, wires and plugs a couple months before. Just haven't had the time or weather to really check it out

I love the casualness.

I have a handful of Miata within my company. What are you looking for?
Something under $4k and preferably with a top that doesn't leak and an engine that is good. Not too picky really. I've got 3 set up to look at tomorrow. Miata people respond a lot faster than sportbike people!

What does it look like? Would you ever trade or sell it? Just wondering my Dad needs a car for work.

Holy crap, Jess. If it wasn't so late I would be sending you a text for more details. Hope you're okay!

No. Just no. With a 15% drivetrain loss, you need to make 330 ft lbs at the crank to put down 280 to the wheels.

So by your logic any MS3 that dynos with over 238 lb-ft is on a improperly calibrated dyno? The only charts I have seen where the MS3 has that low of torque is where the power was rolled into after 3k RPM and did not have the boost spike at that spot. You can tell the difference in the charts by the shape of the graph before 3k RPM.

begi (notice only 75 HP being made at 3k rpm, obviously rolling into the power slowly here. Also the only dyno coming close to the 238 lb-ft that you claim is a maximum for the MS3 to the wheels)

automobile mag (216 whp is low for this motor, this is lower than begi dyno -- but still significantly higher torque than begi since they didn't ease into the power)

and the coup de grace - Tru-Boost (67 degrees 29.35 in-hg 14%humidity SAE 0.99)

These charts are from http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123653857-Mazdaspeed3-Dyno-Comparisons

I'm not vouching for the accuracy of any of these charts. Air intake temperatures will be lower in real world driving conditions. This will affect the output in a negative way when measuring on a dyno.

No pics online yet the insurance guy has to come Monday and look at it. I think I will start my small demodding process and try and run some seafoam through it to clear out the oil

hopefully no one saw you roll it... guy's in big SUV's are just waiting to see a smart car roll ya know.
Is columbusNate sure that all his MSP's sensors are good? Just a thought.
There's a somewhat nice looking MSP on Columbus craigslist right now for like $3800 if someone needed an MSP.
I saw a big blue camry run at an autocross event yesterday... i lol'd.

Doesn't look bad for $3800

But... if that can happen at such a low speed, imagine what would happen at high speeds? That doesn't scare you, even just a little?

Seeing how the tridion cell took the impact it's pretty much like a roll cage and it did its job well. I'll tell you right now falling off a bike is much much much more traumatizing than this roll ever was.

If the hype is to believed the Smarts are incredibly strong little cars. I guess the reason they don't allow them at autocrosses is warranted. (dunno)

It sounds like you are OK, which is good! Good luck with your Miata shopping.

Agreed. And thanks--2 down, waiting on the 3rd to arrive... So far neither has had any body rust which is impressive.
