The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

snowing pretty heavy right now. There might be 2 inches on the ground and some drifting.

i may be going with a junkyard engine when i do the swap... Columbus pick and pull seems to have a few KL's at any time... of course, those cars are in the junk yard for a reason. Any thoughts on junkyard engines? I'm Still waiting for my current autoBox to die before i can do anything, and then i'd feel bad for the FS if i ditched it :(
For the wiring i plan on running a tangled up harness/double computer mess
A couple inches of snow here in columbus... but it's stopped now. should be all gone by the weekend, but that still leaves thursday and friday for hiking :D

A junkyard engine is a gamble but their prices reflect that. I got my last KL for ~$680 shipped to my door from an online shop and it's pretty clean though hasn't ran yet. My first one was ~$900 shipped and is still running strong in my Milly. That's why I'm not bothering forging the KL, if it pops I'll just swap in another one. :)

Be safe everyone. Route 8 was a mess around lunch time, people sliding off the road or into the concrete divider.

See, since we're all car enthusiasts we can all drive pretty well and have a understanding of vehicle dynamics in snowy conditions. I've never gotten stuck before. It's all the other morons we have to share the road with that make me nervous. I'm constantly saying to the other drivers "Pleeeeeaaaase don't slide into me, you putz.". haha

But regardless, you're right, Sho. Be safe out there with all your driving around, buddy.

Yeah, my biggest worry is always everyone else on the road. People just dont understand how physics work, and next thing you know; you have someone sliding towards you in a giant SUV with no idea how to control their vehicle.

Saw a black genpu in Buehler's and I parked behind it and then parked next to another genwon at kohls in medina

I left 15 minutes early to beat the rush of idiots, still saw three accidents. Then my neighbor fell snowblowing his driveway. I hope he is ok.

I am tired of clearing a path to the garage. Every hour or so I have gone out just so it would be clear.

lewis- what axles did you use (or could you use) for your KL swap? protege axles won't fit into a transmission off a KL car right? Wrong spline count and from what i can tell the intermediate shaft from the protege won't bolt up to the KL-DE without modification...
...or was it a KL-ZE that the intermediate shaft mount wouldn't bolt up to...
Over on clubProtege i looked at some guys attempt to slap a KL into an old BF protege. He used a KL's transmission, but all the 28-spline axles from a probe, mx-6, or mx-3 gs were too long and he had trouble with his half shaft binding up... and some other problem with the 28-spline intermediate shaft not working with his protege 26-spline half shaft.

His other option was to put his old protege diff into the KL's transmission and use all the protege's axles... but he couldn't do that for some reason... or maybe he didn't want to.
Also... that was a BF protege... maybe our BJ proteges are a bit wider and we wouldn't have axle binding issues when using a v6 car's axles?

Maybe i skimmed over the answer to my question somewhere... i've been looking at stuff about the swap all week- i'm mostly concerned about wiring, but it doesn't sound as hard as wiring's made out to be, so now i've moved on to "wtf do i do for axles."

Next week: "wtf do i do for the fuel lines"

I'll send ya a PM, mate. :)

Short answer; Protege axles work just fine. But you'll need a KL intermediate shaft.

We probably got nine inches of snow where I'm at, supposed to be another storm coming on Sat. Hopefully that isn't too bad. I was down around Mount Carmel East today and the roads were just nothing but slush and patches of ice, hopefully everybody made it home safe!

Damn, you all are getting dumped on. Got maybe an inch of snow here but it's mixed with sleet here and there throughout the day and now it's just raining.

RedRyder, love the username and avatar! :)

that jersey is really sweet! I want one!

also, the snow wasnt bad... but man people are slow drivers. really... going 25 on the interstate? how about take the service drive! or stay home.

We have about 6-8 inches of snow. My father in law came over and plowed our driveway. I can only hope the road crews did their jobs so Jen can get to and from work without issue.

I'd say we got upwards of 8" ... we shoveled the whole driveway when i got home at 430p yesterday and overnight we got another couple of inches ... the city plow finally came by for the first time at 5am today! So before Marlon left at 7am for work I shoveled out the end of the driveway : / and reshoveled and salted the right side so our one wheel will at least get traction : ) I'm done shoveling! Is it spring yet? On a positive note, the days are now getting longer : )

Yea, I spent an hour shoveling this morning.

And last night an Ambulance showed up at my neighbor's house, so I think he broke his hip or leg from that fall yesterday.
