Lol! Exactly

pics when you get stuck
Will do.

Like the pics! Why not paint the roof pillars black? Or wrap them with black vinyl..
I was referring to the A and C pillar and where it connects around the top of the doors. The roof is peeling really bad too. The whole car just needs repainted, but I have to wait on a job and a little bit more funding for that. Might be a project with next years tax money since I'm not really going to go much farther with the MSP. A tune, nicer seats, and a paint job is probably all the further I'll go with her. Maybe coilovers depending on how long the beater last.

that makes sense, can't see the pics at work. A cf roof cap could fix part of that

Well since Im currently laid off and bored i will be prepping the car tomorrow for paint. Never painted a car so it will be another learning experience. In the few weeks of having it i got to do the wheel barrings (another first) lol. And then next week or the week after ill be doing springs and struts! I enjoy learning while doing. Any advice on painting?

Just make sure there is no glossy areas at all and at least sanded with 320 all over to reduce sanding marks from being visible. A good obital sander will do the trick and red scuff everything in and out of sight if sand paper doesn't do it.

I picked up 120 grit before i read this will that be to ruff ? Where can i get 320.at? I have a 7" sander and had a hell of a time finding 120 lol

120 is way to ruff for a final sand. 120 is used more for ruff or chipped areas. 320 can be purchased online, but for a 7" i have no idea. Most orbitals are 5". If you have to start with 240 and then work your way to 320. Unless you are striping the paint to bare metal than go with a courser grit.

120 is super aggressive! I would not recommend it. You will be through to bare metal before you know it and that is a whole nother can-o-worms. You could use it around any rusted areas though. It will get you some bite for any body filler you might need to use. Otherwise go with 320 grit to scuff the surface for painting. You only need to knock off the shine to be able to apply your color coat. Deep sand scratches are very hard to fill. Although if you use primer/sealer those can both be sanded with finer grit paper. Again, the finished product is only as good as it's base.

Usually you'll spend 2-3 more time preparing than actually painting it.
