Sorry if I got a little carried away. I think I'm going to adjust the FMIC so that the top nuts that are connected to the core are inset into the core support. It will raise it up another 1 1/4" The I have to replace the hood with the DGM CF hood from Evan :) To bad the roof and pillars look like s*** though. Oh well.

Someone hacked the 626 forum... It was a pretty successful troll, as it redirects the pages to some UK site about Nazi bankers, but I don't get who would waste their time doing it; we have maybe 15 active members around the world... Some people just have too much time on their hands? Any like Styx? :D

So i was browsing ebay and came across this. I don't know a ton about cars but Im willing to learn so don't be to harsh lol. Give me your honest opinion on this. In about a month i will be able to afford this. First off is it worth it? I have aprox 155,000 on my protege. Newer trans and clutch. Or should i just get a Klze for about the same price? Im banking on having a few of you guys put it in/on. I would love to help and learn. Im sure you would want some cash for the work, that's understandable. Anyways let me have it lol.

Yea its my only car. Should i be worried about boosting it? I could take a week off so there no hurry to get it done in a day or 2!

besides being his only car, the price for that kit is just too shady. I'm all for saving money on parts but for that kind on money I can't imagine any of those parts would be of good enough quality. I don't know the protege that well but with that mileage who knows what would give out first, the engine or the turbo. Before you do something like this make sure the car is running right, you'll save some money, enjoy it more and it'll last longer

Leyland, I'll give you an honest piece of advice. Stay away from turboing your car and stay away from putting the kl in for a while. Spend the next few weeks/ months researching any aspect of turbocharging and/or a kl swap. You seem like a very reasonable guy and willing to do things right. Neither of the two projects you proposed can be done by an inexperienced person in a week. You will also not know how to troubleshoot it should issues arise. We are all here to help but you need to know what you're doing before doing a project like that instead of having someone else do it. Just my two cents.

anyone whos swapped a turbo kit that ive seen has done it in a day or 2.

my advice is to stick to an msp kit. just find a mazdaspeed part out and buy quality parts you know will fit no problem, including msp ecu.

corey you gotta take me to that place.

I think I just gave Phen some info that made him need a new change of shorts.

There is a group he has been jealous of me seeing for a while now and they are in town the weekend of The Mitty while he is here. :)

Don't boost an FS. Unless you can afford to do an engine swap soon after. They just can't take it from what I hear/read. Unless of course you go forged. If you want more power, or gotta have a turbo save some money and do a KL swap or buy an FS and re-build for boost.

Thanks guys for the comments. Thanks to my out-dated camera and darker lighting the car looks way better than what it really is. Still love her to death though.

You won't make it over the top of the ramp. You'll bottom out on your exhaust or floor pan and be stuck. I was measuring for my buddys vette and there is no way either one of you would make it on thop of the platform. Slammed FTL and functional FTW! You can try, but it is in a secret location and you'll probably break something else on your car or get stuck and look like a teeter todder.

Nice, but $16,000 is a bit steep. I can think of better things to spend $16,000 on or even try doing it myself for WAY less $$$.

Leyland, we have a friend Dave B who has P5 with an auto in it and he has always been very competitive on track with it. I would focus on suspension, first and foremost. Mazda's handle great out of the box and with just minor improvements, springs, sway bars adjustable end links. Have a plan of action and don't just take a leap into trying to create power, especially with limited funds.

Like Marlon said! +1 I had a blast in my when it was stock. Suspension and tires are key in the MSP. Don't be worried about power. The Protege will gaind time in the turns compared to cars with more powa. A little increase in power is nice, but you don't need a whole lot to compete in autoX or a short curvey track.

Your bumper isn't the issue. It would be the sideskirts and floor issue. You would have to raise your car then hardpark it to take pics and then raise it back up to get it back down the ramp, and then lower it again. My car barely cleared the mid section of the car. The bumpers aren't the issue. Think of it as a giant speedbumb on a angle and the passenger section of you car has to make it over it.
