The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

As far as I know, they'll probably have to put new valves in it and make sure there isn't any serious damage done to the head. Does it do it once it's warm or does it do only on a cold start?

I wouldn't worry about it though. Get it to the dealer and make sure the noise goes away.

I think it does it all the time now. It actually started on his way to our parents' house FROM the dealer. He just had the oil changed...simplest thing ever, but still makes you wonder if they did something? lol

They said it will take 2 weeks to a month to diagnose/fix. I guess a GM Rep has to come out and check it out...pfft.

How many miles did he drive it after getting it out of hibernation?

Probably only around 100. Everything's real close together where I'm from/he lives still, and he doesn't get out much. lol

The service adviser they use (my dad takes their cars to him too, and he's a porter for the dealership, Pat O'Brian) already said it'll be covered, but he should take off his mods to be safe. He doesn't have much, performance wise. It's tuned, CAI, Efans, 160 T-stat, and a Corsa Catback that came with the truck. I need to head up there tonight to take the efans off for him and put his fan/fan clutch back on.

Josh, I wonder if the oil change guy might have started the engine with no oil. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened. I know a guy who had his engine get all effed up because the shop that "changed" his oil only filled the filter.

More likely to get tapping noise from oil with too thin of a weight. But it would sound like a box of marbles if that was the case. All of the lifters / valves would be tapping.

Those are pushrod engines right? May have a stuck lifter.

You're like 5 miles from one of the biggest performance shops in the history of ever....
15 min, city roads.

Have you looked at their incredibly bad selection? This should be a clue... these are your only choices of material:

Aluminum
Polyethylene

Yeah. No thanks. I'm talking like a corbeau/sparco/bride/etc. Not a kirkey or a plastic seat with an ugly cover.

You're right, those are terrible race seats. What kind of a-hole would run those?

I have some OEM seats out of my Miata that I'm not using. I don't think that I want to part with them permanently but you're more than welcome to use one or both.

Anyone want to buy my black ASA wheels with Yokahama Parada Spec2 tires?

17"x7 +40 offset 5x114.3 with Gorilla hub-centric rings, 215/40-17 tires. Only one summer on the tires. And I'll repaint them any color you like for free. $650 obo. :)

I'm at a local performance shop getting an alignment and my rear brakes checked. There's a lot of awesome noises going on the shops two dynos. One car sounded like it was revving to 10k. (lol2)

Yay for pictures of Whitney! Love the orange OZs

well I was going to get wheels with my tax return money but i couldn't pass up a perrin fuel rail and an unused Doc B FS-DE-Oil-System w/ the external valve. Time to start saving again.

I think I did! Yeah. The insurance is eating me alive. I could do $11k for it and just lose some money. Be ahead in the long run I think. At this point it's either car payment or insurance... Not both. But legally, I have to have both. Which is why I want to sell it. KBB put it around 13k I think.
Good luck with your thread on F4's. I get the impression if its not anything Subaru related it wont go far on that site. :(
