The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Yep, I got that. Having low pads will cause the pistons to have to move more, which will cause the fluid to be lower. So, low fluid, in your case, was a symptom of the pads. But I think we're arguing the same side here at this point haha

No arguing here but I did learn today that the temps can have an adverse effect on the brake fluid. Had never experienced that before in any of my cars so good to know.

i checked the float, looked OK. moved it to make sure it was free and it is. Turned it on and no parking brake light (ABS still on), took her for a short drive to make sure she warmed up, never came on. Brakes behave the same

Would a leak in the brake booster line cause the light? Did it happen around the same time as the boost gauge install? The levels are good and the system has been bled twice with Speedbleeders installed.

Nah, that light / switch is pretty "dumb." Level low and e-brake on are the only two things that turn it on.

Hmm... I know these are different beasts but after the swap my brake light has always been on. And I snipped the ABS sensors and had to install a check valve into the brake booster vacuum line and the e-brake is down (I'm not that dumb) so that made me think maybe it's something to do with the vacuum line. Never mind then.

Hmm, perhaps. My P5 didn't have ABS, so I never had to deal with the sensors and that fun stuff. I wonder if the ABS computer being mad because things are missing would do it?

Has anyone checked their owner's manual to see what sets off the light for their particular car? Obvious I know.

Oh I don't care about my car, the gauge cluster is all lit up anyway. I was just thinking if it was related to Peach's car. We'll get it sorted out saturday, Peach. No worries. :)

brake light (besides parking brake on):

"low brake level fluid warning/electronic brake distribution system warning"

it says to check the fluid level, if it's correct then have it towed to the stealership. for the other stuff, there is a system malfunction and it should be checked by the stealership.

for the ABS light being on, it also says there is a system malfunction. The car will drive as it had no ABS and it needs to be checked by the stealership.

the parking brake light hasn't come on again, and after doing some research online I might have a bad master cylinder; when I come to a stop, if I apply more pressure to the pedal it travels more. Doesn't go completely to the floor but it does travel more than normal. The car still brakes fine but I'm not making any sudden stops, will drive like granny till I can get a new master cylinder...

i wasn't an apple guy, but that doesn't mean i'm not sorry to hear of his passing, he was a young man! rip steve.

i've been having brake troubles too. my passenger rear caliper keeps sticking, getting really really hot and stinking.

i bought some speedbleeders, so i'm gonna see if theres a bubble in there.

My passenger rear caliper also went bad on the MSP and I had to replace it with a used one off the Forums. The E-brake part on the caliper that rotates when you pull the lever was sticking. I could push on it and it would release but it made my rotor glow orange when it didn't! PS: I drive with my E-brake so it simply wore out. I pull it 50 times a day!

both my rear calipers stuck when I tried to replace my pads one time. I turned them to put the pads on and they stayed there. Right now I'm dealing with the door ajar light being dimly lit while driving.

Levi, I found you news paper post comical, can't think of anything witty except that i have physical proof it works.

Miata needs a starter now. yay. Fingers crossed that my MSP wheels sell today, that way I can fund the new starter...

i thought it might be my ebrake, so i actually stopped using it all together, just make sure i'm in gear when I park, etc. it didn't really help to not use it. i'll check that ebrake park on the caliper though and see if its sticking.
