The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I will be doing NASA Hpde 4 for the first event @Mid-Ohio and the into TT. But first I need to finish the RX-7. I am picking up my fiberglass panels today and I got my throw out bearing this week so I can finally put the trans and motor together. Then I will need some help hanging the panels and redoing the wiring. So I am hoping to have the car up and running by April. Lets seewho gets there car on track first me or Marlon. :-) As far as Auto-x goes I always have an open passenger seat for ride alongs.

you're just gonna sign up in 4 or did they sign you off of 3 and I didn't know?
 
i'm up for riding with anyone if i get the chance this year.

random question, does anyone have a 7 spline lug nut key or know where I could get one? A friend somehow broke his and we've only found 6 spline keys
 
I think I've asked this before but I can't remember the answer. Do you have to be in HPDE 3 or above to have people ride with you?

I have a McGard spline drive socket. Not sure if that is 7 or 8 splines though.
 
it depends on the organization, and what kind of relationship you have with the instructors. NASA does say you have to be in 4, but they let some 3 people take passengers. Torqued Racing doesn't care

I am signed off for HPDE 4 at the last Mid Ohio event that I did.
Besides group 3 and 4 run together can you te which is a 3 and which is a 4?

not really, but in order to move to TT I would think that they check your passport to make sure you've been signed off. I didn't know\forgot you had been signed off to 4
 
If I've never done a NASA event would I be able to jump right into 3 based on experience? Or would I have to start in 1 or 2 and move up?
 
it depends on the experience, but I think that you can sign up to 3 and have an instructor ride with you the first session so he can officially sign you off

Lulz. I wouldn't feel comfortable driving someone else's car, especially a RWD since I've never really driven one aggressively. But thanks for the offer, buddy. I'll keep my poser passport. ;)
 
So who's going to the April event? When I went last year to watch in April the HPDE groups (especially 1/2) look pretty small.

Don't wanna get bit by the RWD bug eh? Can't say I blame you... ;)

(Notice I specifically DID NOT say Miata)
 
Hardy-har, Phen. Realistically though, I don't really want to pay $400 to drive Peaches' MSM a couple times and hope nothing breaks while I'm out there.

I'd rather pay $400 and flog my own car and break it. lulz
