Alright.....opinions. Sleazy salesman tactic, or actually telling the truth.
My neighbor is still up in the air, so I've decided to go for the dealer 6 wagon. I called the salesman tonight to ask if the wagon was still available, and if it was, to tell him I'd be down tomorrow to take one more look at it in better lighting, and if it was all good, we'd talk numbers because I was ready to buy. He wasn't even working...lol I called his cell phone number from his business card.
So, he says he'd have to call up there him self to make sure the wagon was still there. He called me back about 15 minutes later, and OF COURSE said "Another salesman has a buyer coming in from out of town tomorrow on it. If anything changes, I'll call and let you know". Like....that figures, right?
First thing that came to mind was, it's probably just a tactic to get me to buy ASAP. But, I'm not so sure, because I already TOLD him I was ready to buy, just that I'd be in after work tomorrow. Unless he was trying to get me to buy sooner than that or something? Or feel my desperation out so he can get more money out of me in the negotiations? They were only open till 9, and it was well after 8 by the time he called me back, so it's not like he was trying to trick me into RUSHING down there to put a deposit on the car? Or was he?
Ah well....if it's meant to be, it will be. If not, I'll just have to wait and see if my neighbor ends up selling his wagon, and hope the P5 doesn't leave me stranded! I'm picking it up tomorrow morning. Mechanic said it was flooded from running too rich? Suggested some platinum plugs and a PCV valve. I don't think he actually figured out WHY it acted that way though, just that he got it running decent again, so I don't even know if I trust that car too much now.
