The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

lucky you. i get to sit in an office all day. i havent had an assignment since 11 am and have been sitting here for 5 straight hours hitting the refresh button on the forums repeatedly

I wish we had interns! I would make them do all the stuff that I don't want to do haha.

Except for about a 6 month span when we had another guy, I've always been the developer that's lowest on the totem pole as far as experience/time with the company so I don't always get the pick of the projects.

That's awesome (2thumbs)

At my last job the "software development department" (it was only 3 of us) had a hot secretary. It was awesome.

Wonder whose beat MS6 is at Montrose. It's been there since last week, the owner ran it out of oil. Engine just arrived today. It's gunmetal with gunmetal RX8 wheels and a busted taillight.

Edit: if it's anyone you know, I'm just going to say this in advance: not sorry for how I described it, Lol.

After last night, im really paranoid about driving my car without my oil pressure gauge working. Hit a raccoon or groundhog that darted in front of me down in the valley and thought nothing of it and drove a few miles home. Went to leave later, and there was a pool of oil under the car. Found the splashgaurd cracked from impact and the oil filter was dented and the seal no longer sealed and sprayed oil back all over the oil pan.

Thank goodness i went home and didnt drive around more, i wouldve never known i was losing oil til it was too late. Im guessing i wouldve seen a big drop in oil pressure had my gauge been working properly in the case i kept driving. Dodged a bullet there

Always always always have an oil pressure gauge and oil temp gauge on a modified car. Hell, it's not a bad idea on a stock car, but you need to know exactly when to kill the ignition to save your investment

Yeah, i just ordered a replacement for mine. Ive been putting it off for a while because i didnt want to mess with the previousowners wiring job, but that changed last night.

On the note of hitting animals, I saw someone blasted a deer this morning, and the car in front of me just ran over its head. Had plenty of time to avoid it too. I wonder what damage they got.

I thought an oil pressure gauge wouldn't show a loss of oil until there is no oil left to be picked up by the pump? A loss of oil wouldn't cause it to show lower pressure until there was almost none left. At that point, isn't there a factory oil warning light?

That sucks. I like being busy, makes the day fly by.

I agree, my days are pretty much always busy. They definitely fly by and I'm sometimes surprised when it's 5:00...like, WTF it's 5pm!?!? Where did my day go and wtf did I do? LOL I don't complain though, I couldn't imagine having nothing to do.

The factory warning light does jack s***, it only turns on when there is no pressure (or no oil). An aftermarket gauge will show the pressure dropping as you loose oil, but in order to actually see that you have to either be watching it constantly or get one that has a programmable alarm. That turned out to be really annoying when I had the MS3, half the time I was watching the road, half the time I was watching my DH for detonation, temperatures and pressures.
