The Official Mazda2 Wheel Thread

New to the M2 game, so I am looking for some wheels to compliment the car. I'm planning to pick up some 205/50/15 tires (most likely BFG Rivals, so they run a bit wide).

From my initial research, I am reasonably sure that 15x7 wheels with 42ET will probably work. My question is, if I am greedy and want to chase after an extra 1/2" on the wheel width (ie. 15x7.5 with 42ET wheel), am I playing with fire? Will the wheel rub on the suspension side?

Nope. a 15x7.5 ET42 with a 205/50 Rival fits perfectly. Even when lowered to 23.5" at the front fender height, it will have plenty of clearance

Thank you, jasyatz. That is very good to hear. (2thumbs)

Now... should I get greedier and push my luck with 225/45/15? ;)

(Feel free to ignore me as I am just bs-ing now...

You could but if you lower the car a lot, they will rub a little in the back and if you have more than -2.0 camber up front, they will rub on the front struts. I've had both sizes on there, trust me the 205/50 handle much better than the 225/45. the Rivals are much better stretched a bit as opposed to pinched a bit.

Yea you definately don't want to run a 225 rival on a 7.5" wide wheel. 8" is the ideal width for a 205 rival for handling, and is what I run on my miata. 195 on a 7.5" wheel looks/works great on the 2 IMO.

Thanks for the tip, Jasyatz and Eyeballs. (2thumbs)

Will look into picking up some TRM C1 15x7.5 ET42 with a 205/50 Rival as soon as we break out of this ice age in Feb / March.

You mean these?

Sorry it's a little dark, but it's the only pic I had of the wheels stationary.

Posted this in the other section, might as well post these here too.

I was bored today so I put a wheel from my Miata setup on the 2.

I think I might need to locate another set of these in gold...

That's the same sort of look I was planning for this summer. Different wheel, but similar offset (+32 last season, but looking at a 15mm bolt-on spacer). Looks great, and would look even better in gold.

That is an interesting look with that much rubber on the tire. Did you go out and drive it?

Derrick

I did not, Derrick. But I rolled the car around in my driveway and listened for scraping sounds lol.

It was nice out today and I had to swap wheels so I figured I would see what my 6UL's look like on the 2. Even though I don't have tires yet for them. Need to order them soon though.
