The system starts with the head unit being replaced up front with an eclipse 8053, which is one of the best cd players ever made in my opinion. It doesnt have great looks or many toys, but its serious in the sound department and works extremely well. Used one of the dash kits and harnesses available on ebay.

From that we have the front component setup. I chose to go with the DLS Nobelium 6.2 set. DLS isnt well known, but if you know who they are, then you know how well this set is engineered and constructed. The 6.5" were a drop in, but due to the depth of the midrange and the hole pattern on the flange i went with 3/4" mounting flanges made out of MDF. The DLS tweet had too much mounting depth to fit into the stock location so i went with an upper door panel mount by drilling out a hole where i had the best imaging from.

To make the most of the components I also did a double deadening job on the doors. The 1st layer was done for mass loading on the door skins to kill vibration and for that I used eDead UE. The 2nd layer is used to kill some of the distortions caused by higher frequencies and for that I used eDead v4.

Doors all finished and put back together:

I decided to overpower the components a little, but with my listening habits and experience I felt comfortable doing this. It gives the set quite a bit of headroom for when they need the power. I went with an Elemental Designs 9.2x for the component amplifier.

I also went with an Elemental amplifier to power the substage. I went with a 9.1 for that, which uses the same case as the 9.2x so the install looks symmetrical and supplies some heavy power to the sub.

I decided for install on the amps would be in the tire well and flush mounted with the floor of the hatch. By using the tire well it allowed me to also have a hiding spot for the xovers for the components and a place for the 2nd battery. I also didnt have to worry a ton about how the wire presentation was due to it being hidden and I just had to focus on proper and safe.

For the substage I went with an Fi Audio 15" Q. I had heard nothing but great things about this sub and wanted to give it a try, and so far is has been nothing but impressive.

Everything works extremely well and im very pleased with the performance of the sub and the ability of the DLS components to match it. Very transparent and sounds phenomenal with everything ive thrown at it.

Very nice setup! I had a complete ED setup in my Rsx Type S. PERFECT SOUND! Looks good! Congrats!

yeah i have done that also. just decided i wanted to run the amps and change to different components and sub. they dont have a comp set to match the DLS, and i really didnt want a 16ov2. been using their stuff for a long time.

I'm still wondering how you managed to get the front door panels to do what they are doing. I ran into major clearance issues with the front woofer contacting the outer plastic skin. I skimmed the inner plastic off and everything, and eventually created a metal grille to protect my Cantons. I also went to a super-slim baffle. Looks like you had none of these problems. HOW???

Also, I feared doing what you did with your tweeters, so I used the sail panels (replaceable.) How did it turn out?

i have no idea. i dont have contact at all. i even have the mids playing down to 63hz on the xover without issues. tweets installed perfect in that location. i didnt fear doing that to the door panels cuz when its time to trade it in.. ill snag a set of walmart tweets to throw in there. i couldnt have modified the sails in any way to get those tweets in, they have over an inch of depth.
