I received a responce from Mazda customer Specialist Micheal M. Any oil is ok to use as long as meets the viscosity and grade requirements in the owners manual. Ed Hayes

Ed,

When are you going to do an UOA on your car?

I only have 1100 miles on my cars now. I will do the first oil change at ~2,500 and then at 6,000. I may do one at 6,000 which will be about 6-7 months. I see no benefit to doing an UOA while the engine is breaking in.

FYI, I did my first change at 600 miles, just to get the break-in junk out quick. Then did ~2500 miles on Havoline and did a UOA.
