i use two quarts of penzoil syncromesh for gm vehicles and then top it off with lucas oil stabilizer. works like a charm every time. my friend that owns a dsm uses it, my other friends with a crx with a b16 uses it, and my other friend with a turbo klze ford probe uses it, and we all have had no problems since we changed are fluid!

Today I was looking at these ingredients at an autoparts store and I noticed that there are a lot of different kinds of the Stabilizer. It says Lucas on all of them (nailbyt).

Which exact one am I supposed to get?

Maybe you could post a pic?

just get the lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer

Im interested in doing this combo

What exactly do I get when I go to the auto shop?

I already have a neer full Lucas oil stabalizer, and just need the tranny fluid details.

Pennzoil Synchromesh 5w-30?

I do a 3/1 Penzoil/Lucas correct?

oh no definitely not a 5w30. I missed that post. You need some 75w90 goodness. I've been using Redline 75w90 for a while now (since 26k miles or so, at 66.7k miles now) without any issues.

no. not penzoil 5w30, you need penzoil snycromesh for GM vehicles, its kinda hard to come by, but usually autozone will carry it, i have never seen it at pep boys, so try autozone first. you put two quarts of penzoil, and top the rest off with the lucas

Lucas is da bomb I use it in everything ...a little trick I learned (It fills a lot quicker when warm-hot) I poor a bottle in my nissan truck during ever oil change ,and you can prop-up the bottle in the filling hole and come back an hour later and it's still drippin oil,,,,so heat it up it really speeds up the fill time

Thanks for the info.

I grabbed Quaker State Syncromesh (Was said that its about the same as The Penzoil Syncromesh) But after jacking up the car I realize I dont have a 23mm soket (I have a HUGE kit with Bits galore and was fricken suprised to not have it)

And It got too late for me to do it so I put it off untill tomorow (Well today now) and went to the track for some fun. I was able to get a bud to come along and he rode in the car filming each race. It was at the 8th and not clocked, Im heading to the 1/4 mile Tuesday for some runs with time slips.

Ill put the vids up tomorow.

Alright, so I got it done, but in the end I never found a 23mm socket.

I used a 24mm instead, no issues.

The Fill plug, and drain plug came out with no prob.

A Hint to anybody doing this, Take off the drain plug first, and then right away take off the refill plug. Keeping the refill plug on when removing the drain plug slows down the flow of fluid so you can be sure to get the plug bolt & insure your drain pan is all good. Then when you take off the refill plug the tranny fluid flows out sooooooo much faster.

I went with 2.5 Qt of Quaker State Syncromesh & .5 Qt of Lucas Oil Stabalizer. I dropped in one bottle of the tranny fluid then the oil stabalizer, and then the rest of the oil untill it started to drip out the refill hole. I let it drip out and capped it when it came to a stop.

First thing I did was turn her on & go through all the gears with the clutch engaged, let her warm up then I wentout for a first run.

I must say I was Impressed. There was afew things I wasnt sure if it was bad fluid, a bad tranny, or just a bad driver causing.

A little bit of jerkyness in first when launching slow and soft

At times second was easy to get in, at other times a little tough, inconsistant

Third would also be a bith at times but butter at others

None of this felt like a real issue, just a tough tranny (Ive driven much tougher)

WOW no more jerkyness at soft slow starts, all gears are smooth and go in like butter all the time.

This week I did the engine fluch and oil change with lucas oil stabalizer added, and the tranny fluid change to QS syncromesh fluid & Lucas oil stabalizer mix.

After all this the car pull more smooth then before and seems to rev faster. Bad fluid was certainly robbing me of some juice, thats been taken care of.

Ohh Yeah Here is the Vid from last night

Im eager to get to the track on Tuesday.

so i went to autozone and got the penzoil synchromesh...is it not synthetic? its just the regular penzoil synchromesh for like 7 bucks a quart right?

I've been using Redline MT90 (been using it in different cars for the past 10 years) No shifting problems..except for the cold morning "can't get it into reverse" on the first try.
