synthetic manual tranny oil...

I've been using Redline MT90 (been using it in different cars for the past 10 years) No shifting problems..except for the cold morning "can't get it into reverse" on the first try.
How many miles do you have on the car?

BTW, I picked up some Lucas Stabilizer today. I'm going to drain some BG Synchroshift out and add maybe a quart of this stuff to see what happens :D.

My understanding is that Lucas "oil" will give the current tranny fluid a better ability to "climb"? (ughdance) You know what I mean.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. I just got my car back from the shop with a new tranny and LSD. He put in redline lightweigth shockproof. I had the MT-90 and it took about 2 weeks and it fixed everything for a little while. Going to try this new stuff. If it decides to finally break in then ill let you guys know.

GOOD LUCK with the penzoil and Lucas.

ok well changed it in today. feels good with the lucas...it feels better than the shock proof redline i had in before...but it could just be the excitement-when-driving feeling

i like the shockproof. no complaints at all

anyone tried Swepco? what makes redline and this pennzoil/lucas combo any better then something like swepco?
Whatever works best for you. Many claim to work really well, but it seems subjective. Like Redline MT-90 is "supposed" to go into our trannies, but many people don't see much difference over stock. If your tranny doesn't grind, then you're golden (peep).

Yeah I noticed 0 difference but I keep putting MT-90 in until some miracle product comes along :D

Not much...14,800 miles. I was deployed for 17 months and the car sat in storage. I prefer to add synthetic oils but no, not a noticeable difference with any of those type of oil changes. I also used the Redline MT's in several Integra GSR's I had (94-98)..i.e. other front wheel drive cars I've owned.

Its not about whats "suposed" to go in its about what works best.

Read through the thread, you will see the experience of people using different combos, in comparison to MT-90. These experiences have lead us to the Syncro/Lucas combo.

Personally I havnt tried MT-90, BUT I have Driven Stock and With the Syuncromesh/Lucas combo & Im never going back. You feel a diff, no doubt!

The car used to get a little jerkey when slowly engagin the gear in 1st while turning, aswell as a few other annoying trates. GONE since the Synco/Lucas. On top of this, it just feels good knowing there is some Lucas in your system :) .

Why no Lucas? Its great stuff. I does get a little prices though.

Any body tried Redline Mt-90 and some lucas mix? I just bought some Mt-90 and have not put it in yet. I wish I would have read this before I bought it. But has anyone tried it? I will try it if you guys think that it will be a good combo for T and A purposes.

I would go with this...

http://www.lucasoil.com/products/display_products.sd?iid=49&catid=2&loc=show

Because its Synthetic fluid, and this is Synthetic oil stabalizer, while I beleve the Regular works still because its patrolium, this will work better.

I would only expect good results from mixing this with Mt-90, could even be better then the Syncromesh mix.

any of you guys try using Amsoil
Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube (75W-90) API GL-4? I have been thinking of going with amsoil for tranny fluid but I want to see if anyone else has done it for results.

BTW, if you guys know how to compare this to the rest, here's the website that gives you technical properties of it, so please fill me in as to if this is probably a better choice. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/mtg.aspx

I used Royal Purple and it is great, smoothed s*** out a lot. I used Amsoil on my dads rear diff. on his truck, great stuff too. If I have to change again it will be Royal Purple again or Amsoil.

It's about time for me to change my tranny fluid so I've been shopping around and disputing whether to do the redline and lucas synth oil stabilizer or just use the amsoil but since this would be my first transmission fluid change, I need some guidance as to what would be the best choice out of the 2.

I'm not to fond of Redline. It was something I read a while ago that it really isn't made for non-race and also some other things I cant remember. But I shy away from it. Not saying it's bad, just I like Royal Purple better.

You guys do realize that MT90 is a GL4 fluid. Does Mazda call for a GL5 fluid or a GL4 fluid?

Does anyone know if it requires a Friction Modifier? For example. Redline MT90 75w90 fluid has one. Redline 75w90ns does not. I know even in Toyotas LSDs you want 75w90ns. So no friction modifier. What does Mazda call for?

This should be covered in this thread.
