Swaybar bushing questions.

I've had the clunk for about 2 months now. My car was up on a lift today getting the oil changed, and I took a close look at the rear bushings. They look fine, no gaps, and are tight against the swaybar. When the bushings go out, can you see that they are bad? If it's not the bushings making the clunk, then I must have something else going on with the rear suspension.

i know its odd, its just they rub so much it creates a gap in the bushing= clunk when gap opens then closes fast.

Ok, thanks. s***, I can't get my dealer to fix it, so I'll have to order the latest bushings from Mazda and install them myself. I was thinking of making new swaybar mounts to move the bushings closer to the bend in the swaybar. Has anyone else tried this? I did a search but didn't find anything.

Yes, there's a guy on here (forgot his name) that is doing and testing that very thing (custom mounts closer to bend). It'll be interesting to see if it works.

yellow, print a thread with "clunk updates" to the dealer and let them read it. thats what we did at first to get the dealer to fix it.

ALSO- someone have the link to racing beats page where it says mazda didnt use the recommended setup?
that will help too!

good luck :)

your dealer HAS to fix it. Call Mazda corp. and tell them the story. they WILL call your dealer and tell them to do their job

The mazda tech at my dealer said that he had replaced tons of bushings. The same people came back. So he started to put on a special greese and none have come back for a few months now.

Find anoither dealer, that's what i did. If they are ignorant enough to deny the existence of a known problem, they are full of it just Like Erin Mills Mazda were when they told me the same thing.
DO NOT BUY THEM YOURSELF AND DIY. That's what your warranty is for.

I thought there was a TSB for the bushings. I looked and looked but apparently not. Also does anyone know if there is a TSB for the rear bumper lip? I searched but no luck thanks.
