Stroked and Blown..project:2

Low 10s and great handling is a big goal. That is a ton of power, I would go for 500 to the wheels.

Why not 4 wheel discs?

What about the interior? Are you going to go race/modern.

My stang was going in the pro touring direction, but I went street Trans Am. I like the old school trans am racers, and a correct pro touring car is damn damn expensive.

Why go for less power? I'm depending on hp to push the car down the track since I won't have the suspension to help get it off the line.

4 wheel disc is simply not needed. If the car ever sees any type of autocross or road racing it will only be once in a great while and only for the fun of it.

For the interior I have some sparco knockoff's for seats. I also have a full compliment of silver face gauges. That and a decent stereo system is all I really have planned for the interior.

Well first off, this is what I replaced the Protege with...
Hemi, 4wd, leather interior, power seats, heated seats, 20's, billet grille, 6disc in dash changer, towing package, etc. etc.

Here are a few shots of the old motor coming out. I am replacing pretty much all of the front suspension with new and upgraded parts. Also adding re-enforced welds and plates to stiffen it up even more. Thats how low I want to get it to sit when complete but with 17's.

Big al. 2row double pass radiator with enough cooling capacity for 1000hp.

Fuel cell mock up. I have to wait till the roll bar goes in before I final mount it. The trunk used to be big, with the fuel cell, a 5gallon water methanol tank, and the battery there isn't going to be much room.

My fully braced 8 3/4 rear end. I was going to go with a dana 60 but this is much lighter and should be okay. Hopefully...

It's an original AAR cuda. 340 Six Pack. If you have ever heard of F.A.S.T. racing, thats what it does for now. Has to look completely stock, sound stock and run the factory Polyglass tires. Currently it runs mid 12's, but it is getting a bigger and badder motor this winter. Hoping for 11.4's or so.

Well, got a few more parts in.
Got the complete gauge set from Mopar. Yes that is the penestar in the gauge faces..
The supercharger came in finally. A F-1 Procharger, some of the brackets, tensioner, big ass blow off valve, water injection nozzle, etc. etc. etc.
5 boxes in all with all the brackets, bolts, pullies, spacers, relays, wiring, switches, etc. etc. etc.

Oh happy days.

Dude, NICE AAR 'Cuda... Only seen one around my area. Those are some of the best looking musclecars.

Like the progress on the scamp also.

I finally got my crate motor in an running in my wagon. It's pretty quick for 4200lbs. And still needs a bunch of tuning. Definately gotta get a power adder for it. I'm thinking turbo.

You ain't kidding about the blower....it was supposed to be here 4 weeks ago.
Still missing a couple of pieces though. No too big of a deal as I'm going to wait till the cage goes in before I do the rear frame re-location, and that before the front suspension and brakes. That and I haven't gotten the motor back yet either.

Thanks Mike. We just got finished loading it on the trailer, gonna head down to E-town tommorow for the last event of the season. I threw a little video of me egging my father on to do a burnout..

What crate motor did you go with?

should be thinking twins.

Well since I am using this as my picture documentation I will bump this up with alittle updates.
Mopar is being a b**** and won't ship some needed stuff for the motor...
I bought some seriously trick sheetmetal al. valvecovers. I think they add about 20-30vhp. lol
The car is completely gutted again, it has an appointment in the middle of January to have the custom roll bar put in. I am only going to be putting in a 8pt for a couple of reasons. One is since I plan on driving this thing everywhere I don't want to be climbing through a jungle gym everytime I get in and out of it. The second is I don't have the money for all the saftey equipment needed to run 9.99 or faster. So the car will be certified to 10.00. If (big if) the motor makes as much as the guy building says (He has built a few motors for people I know, most of the time he makes about 50hp more than he says its gonna make) it is going to have to be backed down to only run 10's.
I started today stripping the undercoating. What a horrible job. I'm pretty sure I have lost a few brain cells today. I will take pictures later today but the pile I have so far is probably about 35-45lbs of it and I am only 1/2 done. I want to get the car down below 3000lbs w/o me in it. My fathers doing the same thing to the Cuda, and he found a rust hole about a 1/4 in diameter. I've never, ever seen him shed a tear before. lol.

Well for those who care thats my update.

Damn mopar :) Sounds like a pretty stout motor.

1/4" should be happy that it's only that small! Oh, and that vid was great. Sounds incredible.

I went with an assembly line motor for the wagon. 96 explorer motor all new no miles. Complete from oil pan to intake, with wiring, injectors, and sensors. $1700 shipped. Put a Comp cams XE264 cam in it. It's strong for basically stock. I need to get some different pushrods or some adjustable rockers though. Just a tad too much lash.
