Well since I decided to go back to the scamp in a big way here is my plan...

A stroked small-block 340 block (bought this weekend), 4" forged stroker crank with a goal of 406 c.i.(406-412 depending on how far I need to bore it, bought the crank), 9:1 compression forged pistons, Eagle H-beam rods, nicely ported and polished x-heads, Edelbrock Air-gap intake, Ati D-1sc or F-1 supercharger, This Intercooler http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7981041506&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW (just ordered), Some type of blow through carb., Possible water injection, 727 torqueflite w/ 2700stall converter (already have), Beefed 8 3/4 with 3.23 or 3.55 gears (already have), Disc brakes (need to install...badly)....etc.

My goals: To have this motor ready for next spring. To be able to drive the car anywhere and beat the hell out of it. Horsepower goals....I want to run 10.s on pump gas maybe low 10's on good gas.

The car needs a cage, needs to be mini-tubbed, needs frame connectors, new bigger exhaust, needs to be lighter.

This is my kinda project.(thumb)

very nice my buddy is putting in a C5 motor and tranny in an astro van. Already tubbed on 20 heh. Escalade conversion as well. Good luck man.

Go for a solid street car that runs 11s and get a 5 speed. You won't regret it. It is my favorite mod on my 65 stang.

A 10 sec street car that is not fuel injected isn't really a street car.

Good luck. Any pics as of now?

Carbs. are much easier to tune for me. You don't have to worry about a computer glitch or bad sensor ruining your day.

My fathers car runs a 402 stroker with factory exhaust manifolds, stock style exhaust, six-pack intake,10.2:1 compression, small cam, weighs 3900+ with him in it and runs 12's/11's.
I'd like the same motor with 9:1 compression and like 14lbs of boost. It would very streetable and with my lighter car would easily be in the 10's.

That's a nice Scamp that you have. I don't blame you one bit for building that up in lieu of working on the MSP again. Good luck on hitting those 10's! With your love of the 1/4 mile track, the Scamp just makes a better platform in my opinion.

I am not familiar with Mopar stuff.

Are there kits for superchargers or do you have to piece stuff together? Paxton makes a kit for early stangs.

Keep us posted.

There is one place that makes a kit, however I was thinking of just cutting some brackets and making my own. I will say that is where I got the idea.

Well I talked with the supercharger guys and the engine builder. It looks like I will be shooting for right around 600-650whp with the set-up.
They were telling me a guy just got done putting a motor very similar to the mine being built 2weeks before the Hot Rod Power Tour. He dyno'd it before he left with power steering and a/c and it made 658whp. He then drove it from Winsconsin to Flordia and back to Illinois without a problem.
The kit I will more than likely end up buying comes with the fuel pump and reg. a methanol injection set-up (doesn't need an intercooler), the supercharger, all the brackets, bolts, pullies, belts, tubing, carb. hat etc. for a few hundred less than a Thumper kit.
Now the thing I can't decide is wether I should spend the money on a Siamese bore 340 block from Mopar so that I could have a 472cu in. small block..... The pistons and rods would cost about the same because they would be custom anyways and it would use the same rods. The crank would be the same also. So it comes down to do I want to run a roller cam and 472 cu in......

which car we set on the highway and watched them all roll through. One guy wrecked his orignal gt500. Orignal everything... such a sexy car.

not blown but 150 with a 528 hemi... and jag rear end made it one of the sexiest cars out there.

Can you do that again. I need to log in to gainesvilleracing to see them. (angel)

It's been a long time since I updated this. A few changes from the original plan have occured, hopefully for the better...
Have you ever heard of the "Pro touring" type of car? Well, thats what I am going for, sort of.

I have almost all the parts for the motor. A 4-bolt main, thick web 340 block, H-beam rods, Ross custom forged pistons (8:1), 4" forged crank, Cast iron heads flowing 255cfm, Air-gap Intake, 750 d/p. Custom racer brown cam. Its gonna be 410cu in. The base motor should put out around 450+hp. I bought and should recieve shortly a F-1 Procharger (Big) capable of around 1300-1500hp. The pulleys I bought should be at 10psi. 10psi from this blower on this motor should put it around 700-750hp. I figure this is a good starting point for tuning and whatnot on pump gas.

The suspension is going to be set-up more for road racing. Tubular upper control arms, Big swaybars front and rear, .990 torsion bars, HD rear leaf springs, QA-1 adjustable shocks. Brakes are 12.5" rotors 4-piston calipers up front and 11 x 2.5" drums in the rear. That should be a huge improvement over the 9" drums it has now.

The body is getting a 8pt roll bar, subframe connectors, leaf springs moved in 3", wheel wells enlarged. Tires are going to be 245/50/17's up front and going to try to fit 325/50/17's in the rear. Haven't decided in the wheels yet.

I have a ton of parts already, and a ton more coming in.

I hope to get low 10's and be able to corner and stop like a modern vette (or somewhat comparable).
