starting problem

I just bought an 88 rx-7, the body is near pefect, the interior is the same, new exauhst, new tires, ect etc... I payed only $700. It will turn over and fire but dies immediatly. I will go to almost any length to get it running.

my buddy had an old rx-7 and it was a b**** to start sometimes, especially in the cold weather....

good deal and hope you get it running.....

bump here for some help.

have you tried posting the same question at rx7club.com? im sure there are some experts that could give you some great advice. we have a few rotary heads here, but the rotary board isnt very active.

You are not providing enough information for anyone to really help troubleshoot it. Start with the obvious and go from there. timing, fuel, ignition.....

It stays running after you let go of the key? Or it slightly catchings WHILE turning the key?

the motor starts revs up to 3,000 rpm and dies immediatly. this is after I unplug the fuel pump and pull the fuel regulator off of the fuel rail.
