Stalling

Every 3 or 4 months or so, I find that my car will stall when I'm idling at a red light. It happens without warning. Just revs down and stops. Only 3-4 times did this happen last year, but it has me miffed. It's not like you can show the mechanic what happens. They'll take it out, won't replicate the issue, then tell you your dreaming things. It's not a big deal, but it has me a bit concerned.

Clean your EGR and report back...it's the #1 problem....

Without a Check Engine Light...it's hard to tell...but I would do the cleaning first...

Could be a number of other things.

Sorry man, not much with cars. What is an EGR? I have on past occasions had the injectors cleaned, but still get the same intermittant problem.

Thank you for this. My car is an automatic. Would this still apply? Could I have a Mazda service dealer do the work? Looks like they could only charge about 1 hour labour or so for the work, yes?

It is REALLY easy to do...but yes, you could get a mechanic to do it....Dealership might want to replace it entirely, but it may be under a Service Bulliten to replace, so you may get one for free.

Give it more gas from a stop. Seems to have stopped my stalling problem.

TSB service normally costs, right? The reason I asked is that I tried to get my PCM reprogramed under the cold start rattle TSB and they said sure, for $230...

yea, out of warranty work is probably going to cost you TSB or not. A TSB isn't a recall. I have heard of some dealers fixing problems with a TSB out if the car isn't too far out of warranty for free as a good will kind of thing, but this isn't the norm.

Oh and there is a revised EGR part out now or so I've read on these forums so I highly doubt a dealer would clean your current EGR for free they would be a lot more likely to want you to buy the new part from them.

i've had the same problem.

happend twice. not recent though. both on hills. i just gas up with i feel a rumble.(200rpm really low)
